It seems like you are getting ready for an oral interview. Good Luck.

Check your city's Municiple code for disturbances, department's policy on handling noise disturbances, and the state penal code. Your answer and conduct should be within these guidelines. You must explain the consequences to the contact person on the event PD must respond a second time to take action.

Chances are unless there are some ordinances you can sink your teeth into, you will not be able to do much. You must convey to the contact that neighbors are have called a complaint, request to have the disturbance removed, and thoroughly explain the consequences/ enforcement options that the contact will face if you have to respond a 2nd time. (Again this will depend on Penal, Muni, and Ord codes you have to select from.) You will have the option to investigate any criminal activity occurring in your legal presence.

Our City had a muni code that if the police responded a 2nd to a loud party or a noise complaint, the contact was charged up to $500 through their utility bill, and ther were other options to go after the landlord/homeowner on problem houses. Remember, Community Policing is the hot topic now, so work within those guidelines.

Just let them know that you have had a complaint and that you are just here as a warning. Let them know that if you have to come back everyone is going to jail. Believe me the music will be down before you even knock on the door. And be prepared to run because no matter what someone will split even if they have no reason to.

Just tell them you want them to be able to continue to have a good time and enjoy the music but the need to have it at a reasonable level, that you dont want to have to come back, tell them to be responsible to the public and you will be courteous to them in return.

First you explain the ordinance, then you explain the penalties, all in a kind manner.

Tell them - their uninvited neighbors are complaining on the block.

Then say "Next time invite all of them, and until then, shut it off".
