Not only is it not right, it isn't happening. Shall I say that again, so you understand...

THIS STORY ISN'T TRUE

There have been plans drawn up for such a building project.

No public money is involved in this project.

No planning application has been received by Newham Council.

Newham Council will, I trust, consider the proposal carefully, and I hope, reject it if they feel it will be detremental to the character of the area. The people of Newham will have the right to make representation, if there is a planning application.

I'm not a resident of Newham, so I'm not sure what business of mine, a potential planning application in Newham is.

Are you all Newham residents? You don't have some other motive for objecting and signing silly petitions, do you?

Not a Christian and I'm not an Islamophobe, so I won't sign.

If you want more money to go to the NHS, then start up a petition demanding that troops be pulled out of Iraq. This war has cost more money than anything else.

It is not just a mosque but is planned to be the international headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat.

The Saudi royal family-supported Muslim World League paid for the Tablighi Jamaat headquarters mosque in Dewsbury in the late 70s and many observers believe the West Ham mosque will be also Saudi-financed.

Tablighi Jamaat spokesmen claim the West Ham mosque will be funded by contributions from Tablighi Jamaat supporters from around the world.

Did you not read this part:

"With respect to the proposal associated with a site near the Olympic development in Newham, we understand from Newham Council that there is no current planning permission or application for a mosque and Newham Council do not expect a planning application in the near future."

Or did you not want to read it?

At the very least the surrounding population should be consulted, but if there's a perceived need for one I'm guessing the surrounding population is Muslim.
I can't see where it says the tax payer is footing the bill.
On a personal note, I'm atheist and can't see the need for any religious buildings; surely one's god will accept ones idolisation wherever one is?

No it aint P*****G right at all.
They say there is no spare money for Hospitals, Training Doctors & nurses (thats why we have terrorist Doctors all trained and willing to come over here and work)
Our school's have no money. Infact this country is useless.

So if they want a Mosque, Then they should pay for it actually on second thoughts this is ENGLAND so why should we have a mosque here at all. Let them all move back to their own country and pray to their so call God.

i will sign the petition right now and so will the rest of my friends and family

For the thousandth time:

- YES, a mosque is proposed to be built.
- NO, it is not to be funded with public money.
- YES, it will be funded by private interests and not by the state.
- NO, you can't just ban it
- YES, the petition is bullshit
- YES, you're an idiot.

I hate to rain on everybody's parade but there is no planning application for such a mosque. If and when there is, it has to be put up for public consultation. That's the time to kick off.

No it is not right.

That money could go into housing, NHS, schools etc.

There are so many wealthy Muslim businessmen around driving their big flash cars - I'm sure if they clubbed together they could pay for it and have change left over.

How many of us are going to use that mosque? Exactly.

This is just going to cause more anti-Muslim resentment.
