wax her legs. Theres nothing wrong with her doing that. If you teach her to shave her legs the hair will only become thicker and darker. Allow her to do it. But tell her not to complain about the pain. It doesnt hurt much anyways

Well, I was 7 when I first tried, and then I stop and picked it up again when I was 10 or 11. Even though it was BLONDE!
Now, I wax or pluck them out.
Get her a really good wax and help her. Don't get nair as it is JUST like shaving and is filled with harmful chemicals...nothing that removes hair in 3 mins and stings should be used on anyone.
She might find it very painful and never ask you to help her again, she might wait like I did. Please try to give your daughter as much encouragment as you can, 9 is very young to be so self aware!
This could be the start of a wonderful mother daughter bond!

There is no proper age; it depends on your child's individual situation. Some girls really do need to start that young because of the early onset of puberty. With more and more girls hitting puberty at younger and younger ages than ever before (thanks to all the hormones in our food supply), I can assure you that many girls her age are already shaving or waxing. The hair really starts to come in anywhere from 1 to 2 years before they have their first period. I was about her age when I started shaving, and I was 11 when I had my first period.
Also, please realize that her shaving early does not mean that she will want to mess around with boys early too. It is a matter of appearance and self-confidence and nothing else at her age.
She might be one of the only girls her age at school not shaving yet, and if so, I'm sure it does upset her - kids can so mean about stuff like this. I say let her do it, but help her do it right.

I think it doesn't matter. I'm a stickler about everything else (dating, cellphones, etc.), but I don't think it matters at what age a girl starts to shave her legs. It's more a personal decision and as long as she is willing to keep up with shaving, I say let her at it. The first time I asked my mom if I could shave, she said that I could, but I was going to hate having to shave after a while and that I could never quit after I started. I started shaving and (3 years later), none of those feelings have ever kicked in. One of the best decisions I've ever made!

If she needs to shave, her age doesn't really matter. We started using Nair on my daughter at 9. She's 11 now and shaves every day. No problems.

Nine years old is a little young to be shaving. Normally girls start shaving around 13 or 14 but if she uses Nair she will get better results and plus it is much safer for her age.

I think you should have a talk with your daughter and tell her about the pros and cons of shaving. Once she starts she can't stop and her hair will come in darker and thicker with each shave. She may be self concious now but does she want to maintain the hair removal process? I don't think she is too young to do it necessarily but it is a process that has to be continued and she needs to understand that and make a choice based on more than embarassment

I would maybe Nair below the knees down. It is better to aide her Nairing them instead of her sneaking a razor to shave. Plus with Nair she has to wait for the hair to grow a little so it would be that often.

she is way to young yet and nair is not good on the skin if your girl has any allergies and if you leave it on to long it can burn i whould say at earlyst shaveing should wait tell middle school and eve then dont let her use nair i know from exsperince what you can do is buy what thay call a flicker it is a razor with a kind of safty on it you can get them at walgreens for cheep there round shape with 6 or saven singol blades in one cartrige and do not let her shave above the knee you cut your self much easyer that way for now exsplane to her the risk of nair and other self remove hair producs and let her know that when she get old enof to shave
you will let her know and its a bad idea for her to wax

I think whenever she's self-conscious about her appearance, then it's time to let her do whatever she needs to fix it. It's not a matter of chronological age, it's a matter of physical maturity. Where do you see any harm in her shaving her legs now as opposed to next year? It's only personal grooming, not let getting a tattoo. Are you going to not let her use napkins or tampons when her periods start because you don't think she should be having periods so soon?
