Wouldn't it be ironic for a Republican president to preside over the death of the Republic?

Trying to find the specific wording that confirms what you're insinuating... and others are claiming as fact.

Now, now, Nathan, these be orcs you're talking to! We LIKE dictators! Don't worry so much. Wouldn't it be great to have a Christian dictator? See? Christians are nice...

If he declares martial law and we let appoint himself, yes.

He would not be appointed ever. Who would do that? Not congress, no way.

The key question is will we as a people let him vacate the constitution and appoint himself? Or will we take to the streets by the millions and say no.

Benjamin Franklin said:
"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty nor security".

If "we the people" want to control our country we must do so. Politicians will not represent and protect our interests unless we demand they do. And today, we are not doing so and they are not.

I am disgusted with most of the posts. Someone had it right on, when they said that "Pirates of the Carribbean is to important" for you to care about all this. Most people in Tx don't realize that the borders are wide open and Perry and Bush want the TTC b/c they want to dissolve the US, and eliminate the American middle class.
That said, Bush won't become "supreme leader." He won't have to.

For anyone paying attention, Bush has been trying to appoint himself supreme dictator for the last three years---funny thing is, we're letting him do it!

Or is The Pirates of the Caribbean that important to everyone that the future of our nation isn't a matter of great concern?

Even if it was a large scale attack(on the order of the D-Day invasion of Normandy).I don't think it would justify making anyone, let alone Bush,"Supreme Dictator"! Hey, it could happen, but I doubt it will.

Yes, he's already signed a directive giving him such powers "in case of a national emergency."
I'm sure he's been smacking his chops, especially since Chertoff's "gut feeling" speech.

All the Shrub needs now is his Reichstag incident, then.... welcome to the reincarnation of Nazi Germany.

Hmm...I don't think he'd be able to manage THAT, unless the terrorists actually used a nuclear bomb this time around, but wait a few more presidential terms and it might become possible for someone to do it. It's scary how so many americans are so patriotic and unable to think clearly about their government.
