Lay off - sh*t happens and in a perfect world, no one would have ever have money problems. She didn't ask the question to get lectured on fiscal responsiblity.
That being said, I wouldn't feed canned veggies or fruit myself, but if you can scrounge together a couple of bucks, go get regular hamburger, beef or chicken livers and cook them up. (boil the hamburger to get rid of all the fat) Mix it with cooked rice and it should hold them over until you can get some dog food. You can also add cottage cheese, yogurt, cooked eggs, oatmeal, pasta, and potatos. It's not a long term solution, but it won't upset their stomachs and is fairly cheap.

People food is okay if you are feeding your dog the right foods and the right quantities as a part of their balanced diet. Just like people, to much of a good thing is a bad thing. Animals can suffer from some of the same ailments we do from a poor diet. Obesity, joint pain, heart conditions, thyroid problems, intestinal problems, diabetes... the list goes on and on. An occassional treat here and there doesn't hurt. I have a puppy (almost 9 months old) and I have not given him much people food yet because I don't want to have a dog that begs whenever there is food around. Perhaps when he is older and better trained. Also, some breeds are genetically predisposed to obesity and my pup is half dachshund, one of those breeds. You should never give someone else's dog people food with out asking the owner first. The dog could be on a special diet, have allergies, they may be working on a begging issue, they may have a strict way of giving their dog people food (in their own food dish and never from the table). Most people would say that a small piece of meat is okay, but always ask first. They may just not want to have to sleep with the dog later when he is passing gas from eating that sausage. Another think to keep in mind - Chocolate, grapes, raisins and onions can all be fatal to dogs. My puppy has been dealing with a liver issue first noticed in January. He is young, looks healthy and is a normal playful puppy. But my puppy has to be on a supplement to boost his liver and it must be given after a 6 hour fast and no food or snacks can be given for at least an hour. This is very important, we are trying to avoid permanent liver damage. If someone didn't know that and slipped him some food during this medicine time it would have made that dose useless. You don't know what someone else's dog's specific dietary needs or limitations may be, so always ask first.

rice, pasta, cooked eggs, bread, green beans, peas, carrots, apples (seeded). No need to give huge portions either. About the same amount as you would if you had dog food.
Here's an idea..mix a can of veggies, with some cooked pasta or rice, toss in an egg if you have one and you'll have a good day's meal for a medium sized breed. Garlic powder (NOT GARLIC SALT) and it will even be better.
Also, the "dollar" stores sell cheap food that will do in a pinch.
Pay no mind to those shallow people how knock you for not having money.
Bless you for asking for help. Email me with your present food supply and I can give you more ideas.

You should always have extra money AND dog food! In the mean time feed the dog a combination of cooked rice, cooked chicken (low fat), peas, cooked carrots, cheese, and give him some extra biscuts. Give your dog some low-fat cold cuts if you have any, warm them up first.
Do you have a friend who has the same type of food? Running out is a serious problem. At the local shelter where I live, there is a pet food bank that helps out people who can't always afford to feed their pets, see if your local shelter has one (you need to bring in identity and proof of income).
As a general rule, don't feed your dog the following foods:
Fatty
Salty
Very sweet
with lots of seasoning (e.g. seasoned steak).
which has chunks that a dog could choke on e.g. cubed potatoes.

If you don't have any money at all then maybe you should go somewhere and ask for samples or see if a grocery store will let you put it on a charge account and you can pay it off on saturday. If you are that short on money make sure the dog isn't suffering because of it.

That's an awfully tight budget...
You can give him some of your meat (beef, chicken, pork) either cooked OR raw. If you cook the meat, you can mix it with rice or pasta to make it go further.
People often feed dogs veggies, but, while the dog will eat it, they don't need it.

Hi there, well as your dog would say "rough, rough, rough" Honey, ship happens. I totally agree with Ellie. Rice is best for them and their coats, plain chicken and/or beef cooked well done. Mix them together with peas and you will have a delicious doggie stew! Don't worry things happen. I would buy you the food. Your dog has a lucky life to have someone whom cares enough to ask your question. Others will let their dogs go hungry.

You can feed your dog raw fruits and vegetables if you'd like. Also meats and things like that that will keep him full until you get more food. People need to be more understanding...At least you are trying to fed your dog instead of letting him starve until you get paid again.

What I think right off the top of my head is canned soups.... do you have any beef soups or chicken soups... and i'm talking about stuff like beef stew....
I have tried giving my dog raw vegetables.... she like tomotoes but hates celery....
I hope this info helps.
PS: the money thing happens sometimes... don't listen to people when they say you shouldn't have a pet if you can't afford it, obviously you love him/her enough to want to do the best for him, i'm sure you and ur pet will be fine.

Have some common sense and try budgeting. Stuff happens. Dog food runs out sometimes, it shouldn't be a surprise when it does. Whatever you end up feeding him will cause bad gas and diarrhea, so be prepared.
