I had this woman come up to me not long ago and said that she was very depressed. When I asked her why: She said because she couldn't prove her faith. I said: What do you mean by "prove" your faith? She said she failed to handle the serpent or rattlesnake. I said: "What?" Thats nuts! The bible does not say to directly handle serpents! Christ gives us authority over them! Grabbing and handling a serpent would be more like tempting God! Its kinda like if you where to jump off of a 50 story building because you have faith that God would save your life! Its crazy! Its the soul that is more important! The body will rot away but the soul is eternal! Sorry if I offend anyone! But this is rediculous folks! I felt so sorry for that woman. But she wouldn't listen to me!

It is sad for those people. It's sort of like two little boys who lived during the time that God told everyone to put the blood of the lamb over the doorposts of their home, so the death angel would pass over. Each boy's dad took care of it and put the blood over the door. That night one little boy was worried sick..couldn't sleep because he didn't trust. The other little boy trusted and slept all night. The next morning both boys were saved, but the one who slept had a much better night.

The Bible says Christians will handle snakes as a test of faith.
:And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. ”
Mark 16:17-18

Here is another scripture that is taken out of contex. You have to realized who Jesus was talking to. He was talking to his apostles. He gave ONLY the apostles these gifts. They were the ONLY ones who could handle serpents. They were the only ones who could perform miracles, they were the only ones that could lay hands on people to "transfer" these gifts. Once the gift was "transfered" those people could not retransfer them. It was done. What is the reason for this? They were all signs from the holy spirit. Once all this was written down, His work was finished. We no longer have any use for these. All gifts ceased. Once the apostles and the people they layed hands on died, so did these gifts.

You are so right, most of those people are not learned in the word and have no wisdom of the word
I think that means not to be afraid, that God will protect you, not to temp God
