I love photography and i am just wondering how i can become a known photographer. I currently have a photography website (freewebs.com/johnnyphotography) So please tell me what i can do to have many people look at my photos and possibly even sell photos, or have people use them for website, postcards, posters, etc.
Thank You

Ok... first you you need more pictures on your website that is one thing, the other is you need to work on your photography a little more before people will decide to buy your pictures.

Your images are common there was nothing really exciting in there. Look at your pictures of the waterfalls, your shutter speed was to fast. The human eye and brain do not want to see it that way they want to see it naturally as it would flow. Slow your speed down a little more to give it a milky look as you would see it if you were standing there. For your fireworks you need something in the foreground to show scale and give composition.

So here is some more info

1. You should learn the technical aspects of photography and your camera (composition, shutter speed, depth of field etc), once you understand these you will be able to create better images.

2. Shoot in "M" (manual mode) because you will have more control over your camera and not the other way around. When you are in one of the "Auto" modes the camera will just read the highlights and shadow areas and try to get you a picture. The camera is not smart enough to know what you are shooting.

3. You can start reading all kinds of books on this subject and get information from the internet. This includes web based classes, manufactures web sites to personal blogs.

4. Buy the best DSLR camera that you can afford this also includes good lenses. Take out your camera and manual sit down and go over all the buttons and knobs etc.. this is the best way for you to learn what your camera can do.

5. Start shooting with your camera to get practice and from what you are learning from reading and doing you will get better. Practice does make perfect. Take notes while shooting and then look at your photos on the computer find the best one from that set and see what you did to get the shot.

6. You can get yourself a job as a photographers assistant (be it payed or free) and learn from that person.

7. My suggestion is to find a part of photography that you would have an interest in and point in that direction.

If you're just beginning to learn about subject matter, lighting, composition, perspective and depth of field, go for the digital course. It lets you take unlimited pictures and have instant feedback -- exactly what you need to get good. Your learning curve will be much shorter and you'll have experience with the now-dominant technology. All the skills you acquire will be applicable to film photography, and you can then go play in the darkroom if you want. HTH V2K1

these pictures are pretty good. i deffinitly think that you need to put some more up there. it's hard for people to see what you are really capable of if they only have 12 pictures to look at!
