Read the paperwork with the remote start kit, most of them have settings for diesel trucks. We have installed them and they work well as long as it isn't too ridiculously cold.

Ford makes a remote start kit for your truck. In fact, it comes in three different styles, depending on what you want. The gold level kit has keyless enrty, alarm system, and remote start with accessory options. This allows heater or a/c to come on with the remote start. Or, you can get just the remote start, or a combination, depending on the kit.
The diesel is no problem, just a different wire and setting for the tach signal from the pcm.

If he keeps his truck plugged in while that's chilly it is going to not count, he wont ought to skill the pre-heater circuit. I even have an 02 steer clean of diesel and as long as that's plugged in I dont ought to attend in any respect.

Several of the guys and girls at the truck plant have them on their trucks. They like them and they work well. I'm not sure of the brands. I assume that they are not all the same. I have one on my gas truck. Just check with the instructions, most upper scale starters should handle it. good luck.
