I would rather have society know the truth (that there is no truth) then for people to act nice to each other because they think life has some sort of "meaning."

wait a minute. Let me see if I understand what you're saying. You think religion causes people to be nice to each other? And I guess you think the crusades and the inquisition were just examples of these religious folk being oh so sweet to each other because religion just touched their life so much that they had to share it with their friends by killing them? What about 9/11? Aren't you glad that guy who flew the plane into the twin towers was nice enough to share his religious beliefs with us? Why don't you think before you talk next time
