What are the after effects like? I have to have a tooth pulled on Saturday and following that I have 2 parties to go to. Will I have to call off the parties? Or should I wait to have the tooth pulled even though the dentist said it is an emergency.

awww damn..maybe I am contagious! heehee
Ummm..the pulling itself is not really all that painful..just a whole lot of uncomfortable pressure. But the will give you some stitches and your gum will be very tender and sore for a few days. (Probably will get painkillers..) And you probably won't want to eat much. Don't wait if it is an emergency.
Good luck! I hope you feel better!

I'm 13 And I've Had 4 Pulled, And Trust Me, You Won't Wanna Go To Parties After

Overall, I've had 12 pulled and the next day I was in some pain but really not enough to cancel plans or anything. I took pain killers and I was fine. Your only problem will be not being able to eat certain things for awhile. It shouldn't keep you from going to the parties.

Have had a few pulled -- just one (a wisdom tooth) knocked me
down sick for a couple of days.-- the rest were a piece of
cake and other than the eating/drinking i wouldn't have
hesitated to go out for the evening. You'll know better after
the fact and when the "freezing" goes out.

Proper dental care trumps partying.

You may have a little pain and/or remaining numbness after you get your tooth pulled. Probably not enough to hinder your enjoyment of the festivities, however. Take some tylenol along with you in case of pain.

no it is fine you can go to the parties! why is it an emergency? the only side effect is it is numb for a while but besides that it only hurts a little when you brush or something hits the exposed gum but it fine otherwise no need to call off the party.

U dont need to cancel the party but go easy on it, Dont do any hard physical activity like running or exercising for 24 hours, keep the socket clean and dont smoke.

you will be fine in a few days after getting it pulled.as a matter of fact i had two wisdom teeth pulled the same day and all i felt after was a lil sorness.you do have to be careful what you eat though.keep away from anything spicy and crunchy! i wish the dentist had told me this.OUCH....you will be fine .if any pain will be felt, nothing compared to what you ahve now if any.
