Leviticus 19:28
Question is whether you're doing it for the dead or not...
other than that I will be honest and say I do not know.
My opinion; go before the Lord in prayer and ask Him.

Dear ms. black,
Getting a tattoo is contrary to God's law (Leviticus 19:28).
I would also like to help you in your pursuit of truth. There are many false teachings here in Y/A Religion/Spirituality. Here is a site where everything is absolutely free and they ahve a program called the "Open Forum" where listeners can call in with their questions and the host will answer it from the Bible. I have learned many truths in the Bible from the program. I hope it helps you in your walk. www.FamilyRadio.com.

No. The only thing in the bible that talks about tattoos is in Lev. 19:28
"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord."
Markings for the dead are NOT allowed, but piercings and tattoos were used alot in religious ceremonies.
But if you really have doubts, then you should pray about it and not count on YA to guide you.
I hope this helps.

Leviticus 19:28
" 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
This is something that you have to decide for yourself on. This scripture is in the Bible, but it is in the same book which describes what dietary restrictions you have and how many times to wash when one is unclean. It is possible that this verse has the restriction because in those days tattoos were primarily marks of paganism and idolatry.

Lev. 19:28 said to not put tattoo marks upon yourselves, but Christians today are no longer under the Mosaic Law which includes this. (Colossians 2:14)
The Bible does not come right out and endorse or comdemn the specific action of getting a tattoo today and so it is a personal decision. But one who seeks to please God can keep in mind that becoming a Christian involves the offering of oneself to God. The Bible says that our bodies are living sacrifices presented to God for his use:
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?" -Rom 12:1 (NLT)

Under the Levitical Law of the Old Testament, yes, tatoos would be forbidden.
The Levitical Law only pertained to the Jews, not the Gentiles.

That depends on how you translate the passage in context:
Leviticus 19:28
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
PS: I interpret this to mean no tattoos for the dead.
I do not have any tattoos and my ex-wife used to do them. My current wife does have a tattoo.

Jesus Christ had a tattoo of Mary Magdalene swinging on stripper pole on His buttocks.
The underlining caption said: Hotter than the Devil Himself.
