By definition, a "food" is fuel for the body and therefore MUST contain stored energy in the form of calories. However, cucumbers and lettuce are considered "free" in many diet systems. There's also a joke about celery being negative calories, since it takes more energy to chew it up than it contains in food value.

water. In fact cold water actually requires calories to displace the heat you lose to warm it up. So cold water is a negative calorie food. I believe that celery, well chewed, is also near zero, if not slightly net negative.

yes. paper. charcoal. anything that does not containt the basic nutrients to support life. But if you really are worried, just eat more fiberous vegetables. There is no food that contains zero calories, as that would not be classified as food. But there are those that do contain just enough calories to spark the drive of your metabolism and they can actually help to burn off more calories than they put in. And their called thermogenic foods. I'd look them up, if I were you.

A celery stalk contains 5 calories. For each one you eat, you burn 15 calories. So celery stalks are negative 10 calories each. (This is not a joke, it's the truth).
