it certainly sounds like chicken pox....even if you called your doctor, they wouldn't appreciate you bringing the child in. The treatment is pretty much the same, use calamine on the spots to keep them from itching and the child from scratching, they will eventually cover his body. Give him children's tylenol for fever as directed on the package. Keep him out of the sun and out of contact with other children. Try to keep him calm and quiet as much as possible and push fluids to keep him hydrated. Aveeno oatmeal baths can be given as needed for itch and discomfort. He is contagious until all the spots are scabbed over and no new ones have shown up for 24 hours.

Go to mayoclinic.com. Type in skin rashes in children. There are a lot of rash choices that you can click on and see pictures and a list of symptoms. They have a picture of chicken pox on there.

As far as going to the doctor I guess you need to consider whether your child has a fever or other symptoms to go along with the blisters.

I don't know if West Nile would be possible if it is from mosqitoes. It's better to be safe than sorry, but maybe you could call and describe the symptoms over the phone and ask them if it would be ok to wait until Monday.

Are they all over the body --Sounds like chicken pox , To stop them itching you can apply calamine lotion to them as scratching them can spread infection and the spots can turn to sores and later leave scarring,
If the child has had all his shots then he should be OK but if not don`t wait see a doctor

Sure he could have them and it is no big deal.

he should be getting a fever too but the Dr. can confirm this and tell you to drink water and get rest. I just saved you $100 and a $20 co-pay.
