Yep. You can set it to check and answer your incoming phone calls to see if any are a fax, if not it rings. Or you can use it manually and turn it on if you pick up a phone and hear the screeching beeping sound.

As everyone has said..yes it does a require a phone line. If you already have a phone line in your house, and you would like to save money by not adding a 2nd line for your fax machine. You can call your phone company and ask if they offer Custom Ring, which is a feature that puts a 2nd telephone number on your 1 line, and you give the phone number out for people to fax you, and when that number is called is has a distinctive ring, different from your home phone ring. Then you know if you need to answer or let the fax get it. Most new fax machines are programmed for Custom Ring feature.

Yes... either that or a VOIP line (a box that plugs into a broadband internet connection to provide a phone line). So long as you have a line with a dial-tone from which you can call the number you want to fax, it should be good.

It happens in my administrative center always. At one factor I was getting them each 15 minutes. I in the end referred to as the mobilephone manufacturer and did a trace on the mobile - of path that's when it stopped - go determine. It simply started up again in these days. I fairly like your thought about plugging in the fax to your line. I can't try this in the office. What i don't recognize - hiya in case your fax does not go through would not you call the usual number to peer if there was a situation - DOH. It's very frustrating to have that stressful beep on your ear! Just right luck with it, hope your thought works. Ream them out whilst you find out who it is!!!

A fax machine uses an analog phone line, also called a "Plain Old Telephone System" (POTS) line.

However if you use your pc you can use your broad band connection to link to a commercial fax company and they ultimately connect to a POTS line. This is a way to avoid a POTS line.

Yes, you'll need an analog line for a fax line to work. Good luck!

That's all you need (at least that's all you need in Canada or the US).
