I move out of the way for just about anyone that is walking towards me if we are in each others way. I'm not going to purposefully run into a person that is walking so why would I run into a person that is rolling. I really doubt they are offended if I move aside a little for them and just keep going - it isn't like I am pointing and laughing. Lot easier for me to move than them - same goes for someone pushing a stroller or someone that is elderly with a walker. It is just common courtesy.

It's called being polite you idiot. I bet if you were about to walk into the same path as a big muscled up guy you would move your butt over in a heartbeat out of fear of getting your scrawny little butt kicked and if i ever saw you not give someone the right away that was in a wheelchair, i'd kick your butt. Also learn how to spell you idiot. The word movie is what you watch on tv or at the movies. Moving is what you do when you see someone in a wheelchair coming right at you so, as far as i'm concerned, your disabled for not being able to spell any better than you do.

Well lets consider a few things.... the wheelchair is wider than you, it is awkward to handle, it is much easier for you tomove over 6 inches or so or angle your body to let them by. So people that move out of the way for wheelchairs are excersing good manners and proper judgement. You are not.
I reccomend that you contact your local chapter for the Special Olympics or your local Elks Lodge Handicapped persons comittee, you should volunteer some time in order to get a better understanding of this issue. You are making your judgement through ignorance not experience.

I generally move out of the direct path because a wheelchair takes up more space and needs more space to move than a person walking by.
however i do it as casually as I would for moving out of a persons walking path -- I don't make a big deal out of it like jumpt to the side and go "OMG so sorry! Excuse me!"

If you're talking about in a line or something as such, then I agree, but if you're talking about if we're playing chicken, then I'll move out of the way just like I do with everyone else. But in a line, I'll tell him/her to get to the back of the line.

So they don't end up crippled like the person in the wheelchair. You should respect the crippled
and move out of their way when they roll by.
It's not sick at all, they don't have the advantage like you do.Disrespect them and you may end up the same way, wheelchair bound.Treat others the way you want them to treat you.

Maybe they are just trying to be polite? Sometimes people in wheelchairs get ignored too. It can be just about impossible to maneuver a wheelchair through a crowded area.

I've always thought it was the polite thing to do. In the future, I will notice if they have enough space before getting out of their way.
