feta cheese is good with salads, just cut it into small cubes.

It was most probably Greek Feta cheese. It perfectly compliments Mediterranean ingredients. You can get it from nearly every major supermarket in the U.K. I think you would have to add to a salad like that, a good quality olive oil as a dressing.

As previously mentioned, Feta cheese would be a good option. I like the Feta cheese that has sundried tomatoes mixed in it. Feta can be made from either cow or goat milk. Both are very good. I also like Havarti cheese on my salads. Paneer is another good option to add to salads. Gorgonzola is another good option, as is Fresh Mozzerella (not the type you put on Pizza).

Feta or mozzarella. Sounds like a bit of a mixture.
A shepherd's salad, (with Feta) from Greece or Turkey would not have avocado in it.
A mozzarella salad normally has cucumber and hard boiled egg (no avocado). The cheese and quartered egg are normally sprinkled with paprika.
Both are sprinkled with olive oil and lemon juice.

Could be feta or some kind of soft goat's cheese. I should think you could use any kind of cheese you like to make this salad. Sound's nice. Why not ring your friend and ask him what it was that he used?

Do you remember what color it was? Here are some common soft salad cheeses:

White=Feta, goat cheese, provolone, white cheddar, mozzarella, montery jack, brie

Yellow=Cheddar

White with Blue=Gorgonzola, blue cheese, stilton

Hope you remember!
