I work for a dealership and am on FMLA leave because I just had a baby. I was planning to return and am supposed to next week, but my babysitter is moving and I dont want to leave my baby or 2 yr old with anyone else and I dont have enough money for a daycare. Its all last minute and I dont know how to break it to my employer. How can I quit without burning bridges?

Why don't you tell them the truth?

I think honesty is a good approach. Call the manager and explain that your daycare provider just quit on you, and you haven't been able to find a reliable and affordable replacement. Tell him you had every intention of returning but without anybody to watch your children, you can't. Ask if you can have more time to look for a sitter -- in other words, don't just quit outright, but leave it up to him. He may be very accommodating, who knows?

You cant please all the people all the time....this is life. Something un-expected happened and they should understand...if not then dont sweat it. Your a mommy and have to think about your family first. Just be honest with them and work really hard up until your last day....they should understand...if not then piss on them! Some people are bitter and will be a total jack *** about everything......dont worry just forget about them and dont let it ruin your day. Besides, im sure with a child you'll have many things that "come up" that will take you away from work and if they dont understand now then you probally dont want to work for them in the future....

First things first. Explain your dilemma to your employer. Depending on the employer's management philosophy and style, accommodations may be made.

I know I would do everything possible to accommodate one of my prime employees difficulties.

If your employer has no vision, then they will be a part of the decision to terminate the relationship. This leaves all bridges intact.

Tell them the truth and maybe they will give you a few more weeks of unpaid leave too figure things out, if not then I'm sure something else will come up.

Good Luck in whatever you decide

Just be totaly honest, say that you have no one to baby-sit and that you cant afford daycare, and say if he can give some more time to find a sitter. Just be honest, some times it works out better than making up excuses

Simply tell them that your babysitter just informed you that she is moving and that you cannot afford to put your little ones in daycare. Apologize for giving them such notice, but let them know that you just found out yourself.
Be honest and sincere, they will understand.

Just explain to your employer what is going on and why you have to leave, maybe they will be understanding and let you keep your job until you get your situation under control.

Tell your employer what you just told us. He or she will understand. Just be sure to give two weeks notice.
