I mean.....the microwave is still functional but after certain time/years, will the radiation leak or the heat temperature change? For example, we put the temperature on high but the food is not piping hot!

I read if you put a dollar bill halfway in door and shut, if you can't pull it out it's good. if it slides out easy then replace.That's when leakage can occur.

a mircrowave is only old when its broken.
but seriously, those suckers are cheap and if you think it needs to be replaced, then replace it. my last microwave lasted 10 years. if its not doing a good job then junk it.

It's time to replace it when it's not working as it should. Sounds like you need to go shopping.

replace it unless u can fix it. sounds like the heating unit is not working.
