It's going to be with local anesthesia, and I've told both my dad and my boyfriend, who would be my top choices for going with me, but none of them volunteered to go with me. I guess my dad assumed my boyfriend would go with me. Anyways, I'm wondering if any of you know about this kind of things... Do you come out of this operations unable to drive? Or is it just a commodity to be a passenger? I don't need to be 'spoiled' because of the pain I'll be in, or because my face will be swollen. If i can do it all on my own i will. So, do you think I should go alone?

You should not drive, even if you only receive a local anesthetic, rather than general.
Your oral surgeon will recommend that you do not drive. Call your surgeon's office & ask if they have interceded with family or if they can call your family when the operation is finished, and you are ready to leave the building.

If you are having a local anesthesic only, then you should be able to drive home. As you will not of had any drugs to make you feel drowsy( Local anesthetic given by injection into the gums will only numb the area it is injectrd into ).But you may be in alot of pain and not feel up to driving, it depends how far you have to drive, how you feel afterwards and how many teeth you are having extracted. The top wisdom teeth donot usually have such large roots as the bottom ones. If the journey isnot too far you could take a taxi home. Hope this helps and good luck .

Easy answer:
A.) If you get gas, they cannot allow you to drive.
B.) If you get local anestia, then yes, you can drive yourself home.
My mother is a dental hygenist, and this is her advice when I had mine done:
1.) Go twice - don't get all 4 done at one time. It's easier to eat food and keep them clean, and you'll function better.
2.) If you can get someone to drive you, then do. It's always better to have someone there for support.
3.) Put a few cans of your favorite beverage in a cooler, and make sure you have straws. After the surgery they give you an icepack. But nothing beats a cold aluminum can on the side of your face to help with the swelling. When the cold is wearing off, pop open the can, put in a straw, and you have something to drink.

I did, but I would NOT recommend it. I felt queasy from the anesthesia and had some problems while I drove. Then I had to stop at the drogstore to get the pain perscription the dental surgeon gave me and it wasn't easy to talk with a mouth stuffed full of cotton. If I knew then what I know now, I would have asked someone to come with me.

As with any anaesthetic it can take hours to get out of your system and during that time you could have some very strange reactions. The least of which is sleepy! Best not drive your self it just isn't worth the risk, ask them again for a ride!

Try to find someone to drive you home. You never quite know how you will feel afterwards, and better safe than sorry. Just staying awake and thinking straight is a challenge in itself after getting them pulled.

Having gone through the procedure, I recommend that you have someone drive you home. You should not drive and I think the sergon will tell you the same thing.

No don't drive home. I kept passing out in the car on the way home, fell out of the car, and almost fell backwards on the driveway.

Have someone go with you! I am surprised the doctor didn't tell you this. I had mine done and there is NO way I would have attempted to drive myself anywhere!
