Taco Salad Wow!
1 head green leaf lettuce
1 (15 ounce) can corn
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
1 (6 ounce) can black olives, chopped
1 (5 ounce) bag nacho cheese flavor Doritos
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup Catalina dressing
1 lb ground beef
1 (1 1/2 ounce) package taco seasoning
1. Brown ground beef.
2. Add taco seasoning and cook according to directions on seasoning pack.
3. Drain liquid from corn, kidney beans, and black olives.
4. For parties where salad will go fast, mix all ingredients, except the Nacho Doritos, together well and serve.
5. Crush a hand full of Nacho Doritos and sprinkle over salad.
6. If you are planning on eating salad throughout the day, or serving up leftovers the next day, store all ingredients in separate containers and mix in individual bowls for serving. This will keep the lettuce and chips fresh and crisp.
---------------Positively the Best Taco Salad
1 head lettuce, washed & drained well
1 (8 ounce) container grape tomatoes
1 (12 ounce) bag Doritos (I prefer Pepper Jack or Extra Nacho)
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) bottle fat-free Catalina dressing (regular makes it way too greasy!!)
1/2 lb ground beef
taco seasoning
1. Brown ground beef and drain. Add taco seasoning - follow package directions. Alow to cool slightly or put in refrigerator if you don't want to use the salad right away.
2. TEAR lettuce into bite size pieces, but into bowl. Cut tomatoes in half, and spread out on top of lettuce. Put cheese on top of tomatoes. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Just before serving, add Doritos, meat (if refrigerated, use microwave to take chill off of meat), and salad dressing. Toss well!
3. Don't skimp on the cheese or doritos, the more the better! I use the whole bag of Dorito's. Not snack size, or Extra large, just the regular size bag -- .

My hubby taught me the best way, I think, to make taco salad. All I do is take taco flavored Doritos (you can use regular but I think it tastes better with taco flavored ones) break them up (about half a bag or more if you want) and put them into a large salad bowl. Add other ingredients, I use lettuce and shredded cheese. You can add anything you want at this point like tomatoes, onions, green peppers etc. Brown 1lb of ground beef (or turkey). Add seasoning salt and chili powered to ground meat. You could also use taco seasoning instead. While still hot add the ground beef (it is best if you make the last layer of ingredients shredded cheese) and cover for about 5 minutes, this will melt the cheese. Toss and serve. I don't put dressing on it, I let everyone pick their own. I like just sour cream. My husband uses hot sauce and western dressing. My daughter likes it plain. It is all personal preference. Some other suggestions for dressings are like you said Catalina, French dressing, or even salsa. Hope this helped!

I recently made the best taco salad ever and the best part was that is was LOW FAT!!! You're going to take the flour tortilla and mold it into a bowl in a large muffin pan then BAKE it. Use chicken instead of ground meat. I didn't think chicken would be as good but it was even better. You can make your own seasonings using chili powder and cumin or you can buy the packet. The packet only has 30 calories. Mix the seasoning and an onion with the chicken. The way you cut the chicken is up to you. Some ppl like it shredded while others like it chunky. To dress your bowl, you can put whatever you like. There is Taco Toppers Zesty Ranch and mix it with mayonaise. Once its mixed together, mix the cut up lettuce in it. Place the lettuce in the bottom of the bowl, add the chicken, sprinkle with cheese, add any other toppings: tomatoes, olives, avocado, etc...i like to end it with either taco sauce or sour cream on top! It's really good!!!

My friend use to make these taco salads that were out of this world. She would first start off by buying the "taco salad shells" at walmart. She'd season the meat with a mccormick packet, some use a packets other use the actual onion, tomatoe, salt pepper etc. She would then add lettuce, tomatoe, cheese and RANCH DRESSING!!!! Ranch makes a big difference. Try it, you'll enjoy it.

I have been making a killer taco salad that everyone really seems to enjoy never heard a bad thing about it. Its all about the right ingredients! first 1-1/2 pounds ground beef 80-20
2 pckgs taco seasoning (mild) 2 containers Marzetti's Southwest Ranch Veggie Dip 2 jars Ortega salsa (chunky)
a bag of shredded lettuce you can find in produce section of your grocery store about 3-4 good ripe tomatoes a bag of shredded taco cheese( at least 2 cups )and a small can of sliced black olives. Also you will need a 13x9 pan first cook the meat till there is no pink and its crumbled drain shut heat off to meat the pan will still be hot add seasoning while still in frying pan then put in bottom of your 13x9 pan make sure it is mixed well and cooled before putting it in the pan next your veggie dip then your salsa then right before serving put on lettuce tomatoes cut into small bite size pieces then all of the cheese and black olives on top they add a nice touch and taste good as well you can get them canned and already sliced for your conveinence. Trust me make this and every one will Rave about it the Marzetti's is key thats what makes it. Or if you don't like black olives you can leave them out. Refrigerate any leftovers trust me its Honestly the ingredients that you listed would make this salad bomb big time I am going to school for cooking and I know my stuff I am 40 yrs old and when I talk about food that is something I do not joke about after all my screen name says it all foodygirl

Here is my recipe...never had a complaint about it :-)
I just make a pound of taco meat (ground beef and taco seasoning), then I let it cool down. In a big bowl I crush some regular tortilla chips and then some doritos. I use both because it tastes so much better. To the cooled meat I add salsa, catalina dressing and a couple dashes of hot sauce. I just add those ingredients until I come to a taste that I like. THne add that to the chips. Add in Lettuce, tomato, green onion, black olives (optional), and cheese. Then toss it up and you are good to go. I put sour cream and sliced avacado or guacamole on the side. We have taco salad tuesdays because everyone loves it so much.
