Well if the rash is just on her bottom than it is diaper rash. Now if it is already pretty bad than it will take a while to clear up, I'm talking a week or two. You can't expect it to go away in a few days. You just need to change her more often than you already do and instead of balmex I would try boudreaux's butt paste or desitin for sensitive skin. Also A & D works well. If it hasn't cleared up in a week or so than I would call the doctor just to make sure it is nothing more serious. Hope this helps.

Certainly take her to the doctor, just for peace of mind. You won't be sorry. He may prescribe some medication that will help.
Meanwhile, 2 things - 1) make sure her nails are trimmed so if she scratches she's less likely to break the skin, and 2) best thing in the world for diaper rash is fresh air: no diapers, no medicine, no creams. Sit her on a towel for 10-15 mins a couple times a day. The air will kill the bacteria and the rash will start to dry up right away. Put the creams on when you put her diaper back on.

o.k sometimes when baby's get rashes the doctor usually tells you to put some type of ointment sometimes that just makes the rash even worst get baby powder with cornstarch or just plain cornstarch at the supermarket and sprinkle some on the rash dont over do it just enough to cover the area if you put to much is going to get moochy when the baby does pee.
this usually works for my son. the first time he caught a rash the doctor told me to put balmex or plain vaseline and it just made the rash worst. i remembered my grandmother may she rest in peace use cornstarch when my nephew had rashes i asked her once and she told me that's an old remedy that people use to use in puerto rico back in the day for rashes. and it does work it dries the rash right up.
still take the baby to the doctor.
i hope this helps
good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Is your baby on milk based formula? My son had an awful rash around 2 months because it turned out he was allergic to milk. If your baby is fine on formula and only has the rash, it could still be something she is allergic to. Are you giving her solids? You may want to try sticking to just one flavor of baby food (like just carrots or just peas) for at least 3 days. If you are looking for something to clear it up.. I use that Triple Paste and I swear by it. I have tried them all and that one is just amazing! It's not real cheap but worth every cent.

Take her to your doctor, obviously it's very uncomfortable for the baby to have a rash, that you yourself said is getting worse and that she is scratching. It could be an allergy, it could be anything, I don't think it matters what it is. Take the baby to a doctor so he/she can tell you for sure. That should be the first place you go!I totally agree with Dalice Nelson.

Yeah if it is in the creases or around her botty then yes this is daiper rash.
My daughter had it around 6 - 8 months old on and off. However despite everyone telling me this, i still took her to see a doc, and he prescribed a mild infant hydrocortisone cream, which worked.
Don't use anything at home though as they need a tiny dose, maybe doc will prescribe. If you're worried check it out.
It's awful seeing little uns discomfort.

It sounds like it could be a yeast infection. My son got that when he was a few months old and the doctor told me to use the medication for jock itch. I think it's lotriman or lamisol. If it looks like it's getting infected you should take her to the doctor ASAP. Otherwise try the jock itch cream and if it doesn't start to clear up then I would definatley take her to the doctor.

yes. take her to the dr. I just read an article in parenting mag about MRSA (staph). It's really scary and it usually starts in the form of a rash. When you take her to the dr. mention it. In the article it talked about a boy (14 months) who contracted it and was hospitalized for 2 months.

Well yeah i guess take her to the doctor but it could a food borne allergy. Has she eaten anything out of the ordinary? Also it could be maybe a bug bite that got infected.
