I agree. The best possible way is to be the best example of what you are, and then let people decide for themselves.

The more you argue with people that you believe are wrong, the less likely they will listen.

i'm no longer Jewish yet i've got learn it. From my understanding, there does not seem a would desire to transform non-Jews as a results of fact: in the beginning, lots of the 613 mitzvot now no longer notice, as they only notice to the Temple. The Temple's been destroyed. interior the introductory 'the Torah e book', it says some regulations bearing directly to holy products have been lost too (undecided no count if those have been mitzvot or no longer). Secondly, there are sixty six mitzvot that each physique non-Jews can fulfil basically via following the 7 customary rules. gratifying those are arguably extra significant than many different mitzvah, as a results of fact they relate extra to society's function which will cave in without them, quite than different mitzvah which boost a private point of holiness. So after gratifying the sixty six mitzvot, there's some 4:a million ratio of extra beneficial mitzvot that Jews are obliged to stay with. lots of those relate to concerns like foodstuff plan and party of holidays, that are no longer 'necessary' for a functioning society. In Judaim- in assessment to Christianity and Islam- God does not torture everyone interior the afterlife as a results of fact they chosen the incorrect faith. on account that definitely everyone can fulfil each and all the fundamental mitzvot bearing directly to society (even atheists, however they do injury the regulation of no longer blaspheming God or acknowledging he's One), there does not look a desire for non-Jews to transform. God could be happy together with his creation usual!

My job is not to try to change anyone minds...it is my job to share the truth that I have discovered and to reach out to those who are lost...I will not give up because I care about and love people of all walks..If I gave up it would be like this analogy...I see my neighbors house on fire and I do nothing to save them..I don't call out to warn them or knock on the door and say "hey did you know you are in danger?" ..If I sat back and shut my mouth and someone I know who is not saved dies...I feel remorse and guilt IF I have not done my part..but NO I do not go around preaching I show them love by my actions and I judge no one...That is Gods job, besides the minute I start judging others my own sin lays bare before me. Peace

No I don't feel the need to convince, that's not my job. The Holy Spirit is supposed to do that. My job is to live in God's truth and walk it out to the best of my ability. My example will speak louder than my intellect and arguements. I won't give up in speaking the truth when it is called for because without someone to speak, how will you hear? If you never hear, I am at fault for you not being given the chance to hear the good news.

It depends what you are telling me to give up on. There was a little boy in my neighborhood to reminded of my cousin that I sort of..lost long ago..and I would not give up on him. He had potential that is why I spent so much time with him trying to change him into a good person. His family was full of gang bangers and drug dealers and I made him change his way of thinking..however I did this indirectly. You see; I made him feel guilt for behaving badly when I told him not to by simply being so kind to him..
If changing someone could save their life or keep them out of jail..I CAN do it if I truly loved them.
However; if it is just a religous arguement or debate..there needs to be tolerance..if there were tolerance we would possibly have world peace..but what can we do?

No that's not really it. Whenever somebody states something with certainty I don't agree with, I do feel an urge to say why I don't agree with that, but that's not to convince them they are wrong necessarily. It's more to show there is another perspective, so the other person can consider that and shape his expression accordingly, and I can find out if my understanding of the statement was correct or not.

I have learned to accept that there are those who cannot be convinced. I am not dogmatic w/ my preaching of the good news of God's kingdom, but just because someone doesn't accept God's truths today, doesn't mean that their circumstances may not change, and so will their minds. Jesus commissioned us to preach, and so I do, but like I said, I'm not going to shove something down someone's throat doing it either. There will be those who listen and those who don't, but just because many won't doesn't make me stop serving God as he has asked us to and neither will I stop trying to teach others about Him & his wonderful promise for a better future.

The minute religion steps into the domain of FACTS, instead of staying in faith where it belongs, is when we Atheists get antsy in our pantsy.

Think of R&S like the DMZ, on one side you have South Korea (which is Atheism and thinking), and on the other side you North Korea (which is religion and pure faith, they are the north because they have a dictator), the closer an enemy gets to the border the more likely they are to get shot, if you are in the middle you might get shot or ignored by both sides, and lastly if nobody steps into the DMZ, nobody starts shooting.

Therefore the only winning move is not to play.

Well, if you think the people in power are wrong, or people are using some power that actually influences your life, you should try and change their opinions/beliefs. It may never work, but your own life should not be shaped by the erroneous beliefs of others.

No, but I do get defensive if what they say is wrong in an accusatory manner. I'm not trying to convince them that I am right but to ask that they search and find their own answers before accusing.
