Seeing as christianity starts by deciding it has the sole handle on truth, as much as I wish it could be, by default it cannot.
Yet those who cannot see this, they forget that initially Christianity was a Jewish cult - a sect of those who were open to new revelation. They miss that the key aspect of control used in their religion today is to not allow followers to examine other beliefs.
The very scriptures they cite tell them to at least examine other claims. Not to reject them - but to examine them to see if they hold truth.
However, there are those who still carry the name "christian" who are not limited by the legalistic view of the pharisees so prevalent today. Sadly, it takes a new generation to overcome the foibles of the past.
Do I wish it - yes, most heartily. I work toward it.
Do I expect it to be granted - not in my lifetime.
It is christians who can become more open, chrisitianity is doomed to be forever judgmental.

I head a great saying one time. "Be open minded, but don't open your mind so much that your brains will fall out!" I am a Christian and I do think my way is the only way to heaven. However I do not judge anyone that wants to believe any other way. I do have a concern for their eternity and want to share the "Truth" with them. I am not the kind of person that will press it on them though. I believe you can push a person so far that because of it they will never consider your beliefs at all.

I'm a christian. I acknowlege and respect other religions and beliefs. I have the truth in God's Word, the Bible however, and when someone is wrong about the truth, its important to share the truth.
Example: If the presidential candidates were saying things to everyone and someone found out that something they were saying was not true, would you want to know about that before you voted? I would!

I wish that you would not lump all Christians the same.
Believe it or not, I know some people at work who
do not believe in God. We have helped each other
out in times of trouble also. I do not preach to him
and he does not cut down my beliefs.
Now wouldn't it be nice if we could all get along and
that the ones who want to rile the Christians would
find something better to do with their time? It is
sad that those ones feel they have to cut us down to make
them feel better about themselves.
That can go for some believers too.
Have a good day!

No, ultimately I believe in the integrity of the bible which is Gods word and God's integrity, however, I also believe in telling someone what I believe and agreeing to disagree because of living a Christ-like existance and the fact that he never shoved his teachings down another person's throat.
This being why I simply answer the questions to the best of my ability but don't choose to brow beat or get into a big debate over it. It does no good to cast pearls before swine and to act like a biblical idiot. Simply state the truths and let God do the rest.

I could just turn it around and ask why arent other non Christian religions more accepting to Christian beliefs...Its not Christianity as a whole, but just personal opinions and beliefs that might not accept others

I think this is a general stereotype of Christianity. There are many Christians who are very intolerant but yet there are many who will listen without blowing up. If we were all more tolerant of others opinions this would be a wonderful place, but it's not going to happen. People hold very strong to what they believe is the truth and it is hard for some to realize their way is not the only way. God Bless.

Jesus, himself, wasn't accepting of what the Jews believed (the Jewish leaders of the time), because they had twisted the laws of Moses until they were almost unrecognizable.
He even said that he was the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through him. If Christians are true followers of Christ, then you gotta go with what he says.

Open to what? Muslim religions, African religions, Tao?
Everything we need to live our life as a Christ-filled Christian God put in the Bible. Anything extra is confusion and trash.
However, I understand that others have other beliefs, worship methods, prayers, etc. I respect their rights in this country to practice their religion. I don't want anything to do with it, but they can practice it if they wish.
Anyone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, believes the Bible, etc. is my brother in Christ. I will receive him, I will love him and I will help him.
Anyone who doesn't believe, if they are open to learning more about the Bible and Christ, I am open to them, and will help them if they desire to become a Christian and be baptized.
There is never, ever any room for hate in a born again person's life or manner. Hate comes from the Enemy, and he wins everytime hateful sentiments are spoken.

It would certainly make for a much kinder world. But Even Jesus had trouble with saving outsiders at first. The whole feeding scraps to dogs passage. So if a god in flesh had trouble doing it how can the majority of his human followers handle being accepting?
