I was recently invited to a bridal shower, but I have never "attended" one. Are the two the same, and what should I take? Help!

No - they are different.

Leave your dollar bills at home when you go to the shower.

Take the bride a nice gift like lingerie, motion lotion or handcuffs...or find out what's on her wishlist/registry

It's like a baby shower but geared towards the event of 'getting married'

No. A bridal shower is normally for a larger number of people and the gifts are usually more generic - like towels, dishes, etc. A bachelorette party is usually limited to the bridesmaids and a few closer friends of the bride is a more wild night celebrating the bride's last remaining days of singlehood.

Usually the bride registers are popular stores to let people know what gifts she would like or could use. Ask the bride where she is registered or it might be listed on the invitation. When you go to the store, tell them you're here to buy a gift for a bridal registry and then just have them help you pick something out in your price range. For a good, close friend, I would recommend something in the $50 range.

For a Bridal shower you take a gift for the couple or for their home. For a bachelorette party you can buy the bride a gift for the honeymoon such as lingerie etc. Bridal showers usually are for the family and friends to get together. At a bachelorette party all the girls party with the bride.

They are "about" the same. A bachelorette party is usually more of a party type thing, many times held out in a club. The girls usually have fun, drink and many times act wild (at least in my day). Usually just friends of the bride are at a bachelorette party. The bachelorette ;party can go on until late into the night.

A bridal shower is usually more subdued and often times has the mothers of the bride and groom as guests, plus friends of the mothers, co-workers, etc. It is often held in a private home; though it can be held other places. Many times games are played. Usually the bridal shower is limited to gifts, good and maybe games.

To a bridal shower, you would just take a gift and yourself. That is all you need.

No...they're not the same...
Bridal showers are usually a bit more "controlled" as far as what goes on...LOL....like no strippers, not a lot of drinking...it's very similar to how a Baby shower is conducted just for brides. Gifts are normally items that she will use in her new married life...and can range from practical to romantic. Usually all female friends/family are invited inc. aunts/grandmothers/mothers....etc...so don't get anything that you wouldn't want her grandma to see! LOL;-)

now BACHELORETTE parties on the other hand...are NORMALLY a bit more "ornery" LOL....THAT is where the crazy night out comes into play...sometimes w/strippers, WILD daring games, dancing, drinking...it's to celebrate the bride-to-be's last night of being single...normally just the bridal party and other friends/family of the "younger" or more "party" crowd are invited. There's not usually gifts "expected" but they're never turned away! (*wink*) And those gift items are usually more on the "naughty" side!

It doens't ALWAYS work out in these fashions....
I've been to showers that were pretty risque
and b-ette parties that actually had a grandmother or 2 at them! LOL

If you're not sure what to bring or how it's going to be conducted, just inquire w/that who which you have to rsvp with.
Have fun regardless!

The bridal shower is usually a party where people bring gifts for the new couple. Sometimes they play lame games. Extended family and lots of friends are usually included. It's a little more formal than the bachelorette party, which is usually the bride's closest friends who take her for a "night on the town" to have fun before the big day.

Bridal Shower is more formal and typically for the older guests.
Bachleorette party is more for the younger, rowdier crowd.
If it is a bridal shower and there isn;t a registry I would suggest anything that the bride would be able to use in the house. Towels, candles, even a gift basket of some sort. If you can't think of anything gift cards work also.

No they arent the same... At the bridal party you bring a gift for the bride for her upcoming future... It is more along the lines of a baby shower minus the baby... So if you have been to one of those you shouldnt worry..

I would find out her style of decorating and go from there.. One item that is usually always great is a family bible..

Now a bachelorette party.. Just depends on the style thrown.. It is celebration of the womans last days of singelness.. Most are wild and crazy, but you have some that are more laid back and modest..

No. The bridal shower has a lot of family members, and the bachlorette party is just friends. The bridal shower is more for dishes and towels, and the bachlorette party is for strippers and drinking. You need to talk to the bride or a bridesmaid and find out where she is registered. Then go to that store and buy her something off the registry. Expect light food and cheesy games.

No, a bridal shower is usually during the day and that's when you get household items (vacuum, silverware, china, bath towels, bed sheets, etc.) and your family and you in-laws family should be invited. A bachelorette party is for the brides close friends/family and is usually at night and the presents consist of lingerie and other things I won't mention. LoL...the bachelorette party is MUCH more fun and includes alcohol consumption most of the time. LmaO so there's the differences

A bridal shower is where all the family and friends are invited to someones house for a little party. There are little games and presents to open. It is sort of like a baby shower, except for a soon-to-be-bride and not a soon-to-be- mom. (Does that make sense?)
A bachelorette party is usually thrown by girlfriends and is where you go out to the bars/clubs and celebrate the last of the soon-to-be brides "freedom". Like a bachelor party.
Just bring some sort of gift for her that is something she can open and won't embarrass her in front of her future mother-in-law!
