technically b***h is more offensive bcuz you are directly referring to a woman as a female mutt.

True, but it's much more offensive when used in direct conversation with someone than in the 3rd person. For example, "you stupid b****!" is much more offensive than someone about the company owner "be careful in the meeting, she's a real b****."

It's also used as a verb meaning to complain or whine- i.e. "Don't b**** about it, just get back to work"

I think because of the milder forms that are used, it somehow gets by the censors. That, and the fact that the male counterpart to this word is almost never censored. Like in South Park: "Oh my God they killed Kenny! B*******!"

Certain words are judged to be offensive by the male dominated board of censors, but the word "B****" usually co-notates a female dog in heat or anything female and when a derogatory word towards females is used the males don't seem to find it as offensive as other words and in fact find it to be funny. So they let that word get by.
