My son is 9, and for the past year or so, he has had this sorta acid reflux (or gurd). I have seen his doctor, and she said maybe lactose intolerance, so I took him off all milk products, yet it continued. so I took him back to the doc, and she just brushed it off again. Now he has been complaining of stomach aches off and on, and sometimes refuses to eat. He feels like he is going to throw up, and he has bowel movement probs. He had an x-ray yesterday, and they saw nothing, but gas. Has anyone had experience with these symptoms? Maybe any suggestions? His doctor is infuriating me, she just blows it off......

Hi,
If it were my son I would seek a second opinion. Has your Doc mentioned irritable bowel syndrome?

Check out irritable bowel syndrome and try to cut out the foods that "aggravate" the condition, especially as he is now refusing his food sometimes.

Hope he improves soon poor little thing.
Good luck and let me know how he gets on.

It sounds like an ulcer. Certain foods set it off and mostly spicy foods. The acid reflux is a dead giveaway and usually associated with ulcers. My daughter was preemie and her sphincter muscle never really developed she is now 2 and the problem rears its ugly head every now and then. Was your son preemie by chance? I would say the smartest thing to do is to find a new doc immediately. Doctors often get comfortable in their ways and techniques and no ones problems should be taken for granted. Your son needs immediate attention especially if he is to the point that he doesn't want to eat in fear of the pain. We never know exactly whats going on with the body and you don't want to find out when it's too late. Switch doctors!!! Start by contacting your insurance company's profile of specialist and if they cant administer a referral to a specialist get the names and contact info of some and let your primary care physician give you one. She shouldn't hassle you about something she is obviously not equipped to handle. I hope everything goes well and bless you and your family for a positive outcome.

Definitely switch doctors. Going to a specialist is also a good idea. It could be diverticulitis or an ulcer. I had an ulcer one time and it was horrible, horrible pain in my stomach. Felt like my stomach was in knots. Sometimes I threw up. But I got medicine from the doctor and haven't had trouble with it since. The website I listed below may be helpful. I've used it a lot for other health issues.

I agree, get a new doctor. It sounds like it could be either IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or an ulcer. Both cause stomach aches (usually a crampy feeling that is pretty instense), maybe throwing up and IBS can cause bowel problems. Switch doctors and let him/her know what exactly is going on and for how long. I don't think that either illness will show up in an X-ray so that is pointless.

Yeah thats how i acted when my appendix was about to blow up dont worry it sould be something else. I have experienced those symptoms my whole life i tried to tell my mom she didnt listen so then i just asked one of my teachers and it was just acid reflux. Just try this ask him about he's favorite foods what he wants for lunch or supper or breakfast or just as a snack that should make some of the gas go away and he might actually puke if he doesnt want to talk about that make he's mouth water and that might also let him puke ive done all of these things they worked for me i really hope they work for you.

try asking a pharmacist instead. thats where I go to when I have problems. They're usually reliable. It could be stomach flu? my sister had that problem and we asked the pharmacist. She told us to give her a spoonful of cola syrup (weird i know) and that it should settle her stomach. My sister was 10 then and she got a lot better! but everyone's different so ask a pharmacist and maybe find a new doctor hah

Find another doctor. Your doctor shouldn't be brushing off your son's symptoms. If that happens then you find another doctor and another one, until someone can give you an answer. I haven't had any experience with the symptoms, and my only suggestion is finding another doctor.

This means its time to see a new doctor! You need to keep asking questions until the problem is solved! Change your doctor before the problem progresses!

Maybe diverticulitis. My father had that and is sort of what your talking about. It was a blockage in his colon. It ended up bursting(his colon) and he almost died.
Another maybe an ulcer, or maybe a hernia. Is he taking any medications?
