There is a miss-understanding about GOD and the book, the faith for GOD it is something not related with any book, organized religion, or creed.
In fact the idea and concept of God it is that complex than the small, meaningless and underpowered human being can not understand.
I believe in a God that has created and designed everything, the someone made the good and the evil and we are already assimilated in it, we are part of the self-crating been universal God.
so god is perfect and imperfect because it is both.
and he is not a old looking man wearing a white poncho walking upon the clouds. GOD it is a further concept than just the one that the man has created blindly trying to explain.

sajad s I've read the Koran and it's a horrible book. It's worse than the bible for misinterpretation and inaccuracy.
The bible was the favourite books chosen by Constantine and his bishops. The bible also includes the stories from the four main religions that claimed to be the son of god.
brokendaystar, I wont say I can remember what is covered by that chapter of the bible but they have found Egyptian references to the jews leaving Egypt. It's an unfortunately that the Egyptian version talks about the Marsh sea, the activity of the water disappearing and the rushing back has happen on several occasion throughout history due to seismic activity on the delta, not the Red sea

What book are you talking about, first of all. I assume the Bible. The Bible, though nice, and lovely and whatnot, was written by some strange fellows. In fact, hundreds of other gospels were written according to hundreds of other people, but one man got to pick the four best and just threw them in there. The Bible is not such a literal thing though, and it shouldn't be taken seriously word for word. The stories are to teach people to be good, honest, kind and forgiving. But I must agree with you. Even Jesus' last words were written differently in all four gospels, one when he excepted it, one when he was scared. And Jesus himself would never claim to be the son of God, he would be insulted by it.
Its important to remember that this book is NOT God's words, but in fact the words of man. Also, I believe no religion out there (with a few exceptions) is meant to harm you or turn you corrupt, so lets not be so critical of each other and agree to get along.
And to those who think that the Bible is infallible. You're good people, I'm sure, but do a little more research, allow yourself to be critical and un-baised. Not just of the Bible but of all texts.
Perhaps read up on the Quran. I haven't seen a single contradiction or anything, and the writing itself is like poetry. I'm not Muslim or Christian, but so far, I've found it intriguing.

"The bible has often been proven as the most historically accurate text in existence."
Nope, sorry dude. It agrees with very few other texts. To my current knowledge, there is the sum of roughly 200 words outside the Bible which can be interpreted as supporting the existence of Jesus, for example, and most of these are strongly disputed, deeply ambiguous, or are suspected or have been proven to be fake.
Similarly, no Egyptian documents have been found chronicling or even mentioning the events of the book of Exodus in any way, shape or form, and the Egyptian historical record is remarkably intact.
And that whole bit about the flood... I mean, there are Greek abd Babylonian versions of that story, with different outcomes and purposes - the Bible has no particular monoploy on ancient myths, and none of them are demonstrably true, or even particularly unique.
So just stop it.

Inaccuracies and contradictions come from taking scripture out of contex and comparing the old and new testament. In the OT people sacrificed animals for their sins. In the NT, Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and animal sacrifices were commanded to cease. If you take the two out of contex, yes it seems contradictory. That's why it's important to read the WHOLE bible and not just bits and pieces.

I agree with Simon. Scripture does not contradict scripture.
The Bible is the infallible Word of God.
Did you know that all of the biblical prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate?
Read and study the Bible for yourself. Arm yourself with knowledge. And if you are going to make this type of accusation be ready to defend your opionion with facts.

There aren't. Honestly, I've been studying the Bible for all my life and I've been able to find these inaccuracies and contradictions people always bring up. There are points that seem to disagree, true, however if you revert to the Greek and Hebrew texts, they always become clear. And the Bible has often been proven as the most historically accurate text in existence. We have almost no other references from history as far back as the Bible goes.
Back up your accusations, please.
