Take him in. He could just have an infection. If you can try to get a sample of it and just bring that into your vet. They can test it before they make you bring him in.

I would think he most likely has kidney disease. If your dog is skinny, then it is probably because one of his kidneys is failing. I once had a cat who was diagnosed with this, it's nothing too serious if you can get them into a vet soon. Because of the lack of work from one kidney, the dog feels he might need to consume more water to keep his fluid balance steady, and peeing is obviously the only way to dispose of so much water. I also have a cat with diabetes but rather than peeing a lot he tends to be more lazy and is starting to lose his voice. Good luck!

Talk to the vet. There are several different diseases that cause increased drinking/urination (PU/PD) - diabetes, Cushings, kidney failure, etc. etc. etc. You'll need to have the vet do some tests (blood tests, for example) to determine the cause and the proper treatment.
DO NOT restrict your dog's access to water while you're figuring it out, unless the vet tells you to. Yes, the urine is a nuisance to clean up, but if you restrict water and the dog has kidney problems, you can end up making the problem much, much worse.

Not necessarily, it has been a very hot summer and the heat will make the dog drink more than usual which in turn will make him urinate more often. What goes in has to come out. Monitor his intake by limiting the amount he drinks for one day and see if he still urinate alot. If so take him to the vet for a check up.

You may be right. Unless you have changed his diet or given him a lot of sugar lately he may have diabetes. Take him to the vet to know for sure.
You mentioned it happened just recently, it may be early yet which is good.

You should have your vet check the dog out, but it could also be a response to higher temperatures -- higher temps lead to drinking more lead to more pee. Is your kitchen cool enough for him?
