i think it's more that they don't know what to do with them.

Some people just aren't parent material, no matter what the circumstances. If you're married to someone like that, look into some parenting classes. That may help him get more skill and enthusiasm.
My first husband wasn't very good with the kids. They inteferred with his free time and money.
My new, improved, husand is great with kids. On the other hand, babies creep him out. He says it's because he can't communicate with them.

Yea, they usually wear wife beaters and drink a lot of Bud while watching Nascar. Just because you call them love taps doesn't take the bruise on your forehead go away

Yes. They just can't relate to the tv, video games, stars, singers, etc in the media culture.
