I wouldnt worry about it. My two year old still has them. I can't see that it does them any harm, and it won't be forever.

You 21 month does not need a bottle. How would he need one unless you are allowing him to have one.
My 15 month old has been off the bottle since he was 13 months. But he still uses a sippy cup at night. Replace the bottle for a sippy cup. Some babies are particular about what cup they like. Walmart has a sippy cup that looks like a bottle w/ different shape nipples.
My best advice is to throw out the bottles. My baby still tries to grab a bottle if a baby over. Let me know how it works!

He is way too old for bottle. You should get them away from using bottles even at bedtime by the time they are 18 months at the latest. Once children start getting teeth, bottles can actually be dangerous and cause bottle-rot or tooth decay. Don't let him have them. Even though he may cry and have trouble sleeping for awhile, it will be better for him in the long run. Try giving him a cup of warm milk a 1/2 hour before bed or nap.

The bottle is just a crutch for the parents. You dont want to hear the child cry so you give in and give the child the bottle. At 21 months your child does not need a bottle. Throw them in the trash and give him or her a sippy cup. The crying will stop. If you keep the bottles you will keep giving in so put them in the trash.

Throw them in the trash and tell him they are gone. He has been big enough for a cup for about a year. There is nothing worse to see than a big kid with a bottle or a pacifier.
You will have a few sleepless days and nights but explain to him that he is a big boy and big boys don't use bottles or pacifiers. Give him something else to soothe him like a teddy bear of a blanket. Both of my kids were off bottles by 13 months and neither used a pacifier after about 7 months.

Don't give in it will only make it harder in the long run on both of you. I would try taking him off the bottle all together. Take him to the store to pick out a new "big boy" cup. Then tell him its time to throw away the yucky baby bottles. And actually throw them away. If he know they are still available he will be more likely to want them. It will be hard for a few days but you'll both feel better when the transition is complete. Good luck

My son was off the bottle and pacifier at 9 months. Put him on a sippy cup and throw all the bottles away. He can't get what you don't have. He will probably take a while to get used to it. Most people say to get rid of bottles by a year. My son stopped using a sippy at 2 1/2.

Babies need that security.
I would not give it to him. The best way to break them is to not give it to them.
Start giving him a sippy cup even at bedtime or naps.
When he asks for something to drink give it in a sippy cup. He may say that he doesn't want it but when he is thirsty he will drink from the cup.
This is how I broke both of my children.

we didn't have a weaning problem both my kids were aroung a year when the bottle was taken away i never gave em a pacifier so didn't have to deal with that i would suggest throw it away and tell him only babies use bottles it may sound mean but when he freaks cause you wont give him a bottle let him cry himself to sleep he will get used to not haveing a bottle.

Exactly - who's the parent here............................
Buy some sippy cups and have your son throw the bottles in the trash.
YOU need to step up to the plate and act like a parent!!!
If you don't - this boy will walk all over you for the rest of his life!!!
