Torn between two realities.. is there one good solution?

I know a girl who was rather shy when I first met her. She is exceptionally smart, however, and rather mature for her age. She may be a little too young for me, but only by three years. Really, I became quite enfactuated with her. I even wrote her a short humorous book. And there were times when I was absolutly positive that she liked me, even while she had someone else.

I still like her, but am not sure if she feels the same. I am a regular smoker that comes from an irresponsible family. She comes from an upper-middle class family and gets straight A's. When I tried to go after her once, I wanted to do good for myself. I stopped doing drugs completely for 2 months, even though I enjoy doing them. I recently wrote her a letter and handed it to her, and have not talked since. I instead picked back up on smoking.

What do I do? Do I give up on what I enjoy to try and make somethin with this girl? Or do I not even have a chance with her? I've probably over played my hand..

1st thing, lay off the drugs. You will need to have the consent of the parents if there is a large age difference to maket things work. Parents can "smell" a drug user from a long ways off. 2nd thing, take her out somewhere that she wants to go and do not complain about it if you don't like it. 3rd, be cool. If you have things in your life that aren't up to par with her standards, a coolness/confidence about yourself will impress her. That is all I can think of without knowing anymore detail.

STOP SMOKING AND GO UP TO HER AND ASK HER OUT AND NEVER DO DRUGS AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
