hi i have a staffie she is a year old now I've had her from when she was first allowed to be away from mum. When i first got her i had a cat who was 14 and like you i was a bit worried but i introduced them slowly, rem the cat will be bigger than the pup, there was a bit of hissing and swiping from the cat and i don't think the dog forgot this lol.All will be fine they got on so well together even sleeping in the same bed i think the dog thought more of the cat,but as time progressed they ate together and actually went everywhere as a pair it just needed patience and guidance on both parts.Sadly i lost my cat in Feb due to cancer of the liver and i know that the puppy missed her badly at first.Good luck with this dog because they truly are a brilliant breed to have around they are loyal, fun and brill with kids and no I'm not a chav either.Hope this has helped you .x

Any of the Bull Terrier groups have a tendancy to chase any animals. I have had a few pits (and still do) and have always had cats. One of them could care less about the cat the other loved to try and play with my cat. It really depends on the personality of your dog and cat... since you dog is a puppy you should not have any problems... just watch the play because they are strong dogs and he can hurt the cat very easily not meaning to. I have never had it happen to my cats.. but you still just want to keep an eye on the play since he is a puppy. I hope this helps.

I had a Staffordshire bull terrier. It chased our adult cats and killed one of our kittens. He had to go to a friend. I would not even try it, it could be fatal, unless you just don't like cats. I would choose another breed that has no problem with cats. The Staffordshire was a great dog and listened very well, house trained very well. They are not bad dogs just for people without cats. Also Weimaraner and cats don't work. Check on the breeds. Thanks for asking.
I am sorry, people who think the cats will be dominate must not have had a Staffordshire. They have the widest mouth around and are 50 Lbs and fearless. Great to people and other dogs but can't stand cats. Sure my 75 Lb Labradors will sit with the cats but they are not a Staffordshire.

Staffies are lovely dogs.
Although both mine have a tendency to chase the neighbors cats.
Perhaps as the cats are already there the pup would just accept them. I have had cats in the past, and previous dogs i owned chased everybody else's cat, but were strangely always protective towards my cat.
good luck anyway.

The puppy should be fine with the cats. Perhaps not the other way around, however. They'll hiss and spit at them - and bat his nose etc. when he tries to sniff their bottoms.
My pit bull (not quite the same thing as a Staffie - but close) is quite gentle with animals that "belong" to the house. In this case it's a small flock of chickens. Despite the fact that he hunts and catches mice and ground squirrels and other varmints - he only sniffs the chickens and never snaps at them. He helped raise them from small, fluffy, mice-sized baby chicks, too.

I've known a few Staffies & they are great dogs. I'm sure if you introduce it to your cats while its a pup, it will grow up with your cats and should be fine. If they are trained from a young age then it will be a great dog xx

In my experience, dogs have much more to be afraid of from cats than cats have from dogs. Expect hissing and hiding from the cats initially, then they will find that they can happily torment the dog. Eventually, everything settles down and the cats find the dog as something soft and warm to sleep on!
I have had several cats and dogs together and this has always been what has happens.

We had a fantastic staff, unfortunately after living happily with our cat for 3 years he did a 'bull terrier' attack and killed our cat. It was awful. They are great dogs but I would advise you against getting one with your 3 cats. Why take the risk?

It won't be a problem, the cats will assert their authority over the Staffie and he'll be the one needing protection! Cats and dogs get along fine if they are brought up together. I have four dogs and they will chase any cat that comes into our garden, but cuddle up with our cat who they know is supposed to be there.

I assume you mean a Staffordshire bull terrier, not an American Staff? I have only known friends with Staffordshire bull terriers. They are great dogs - and when trained to be well behaved are obedient & gentle dogs. If you raise him with discipline, as you would with any puppy, he shouldn't pose any risk to your cats.
