Nobody can sell or buy a soul. The human body is a mere puppet being driven by the soul. This means that for anything that one does it is the soul that is doing it through the body- the speaking, eating et al. So the soul is like a driver(charioteer) and the body(charoit) so if anything at all it is the soul which has to sell the body and not the body selling the soul for material gains.Perhaps, by selling the soul you are refering to death - a process whereby the soul disengages itself from the body. Since it is the soul that makes the body and gives meaning to its existence a body without a soul(corpse) has no feelings to enjoy material things in life.
What is the benefit, therefore, if one gains the whole world and losses ones soul?
It is a privilege to have a body because even God does not have a body of His own despite all His powers. The benefit is that one will have the opportunity once alive to correct the wrongs of the past because this is the time for settlement and the earlier we settled our past karmic accounts the better for us!
Again, since the soul is imperishable and does not depend on worldly things to survive, it has nothing to do with material things.

I look back on my life, and the bigger half of it is behind me now. I think about all the 'material' things I bought or accumulated over those years that have since perished and/or been thrown out. What good are they?...I wouldn't give you a nickle for all those things now...
Would I give up my soul that will live for eternity for stuff that will turn to dust in a few years?...Is this a serious question?

Material things are unimportant as 'extras' God provides for my every need so I would never sell my soul to satan out of greed. When Jesus returns, which camp will you be in..His or satans?
Best wishes, Mike.

Would "see half of the cardinals live as poor single parents in Calcutta" fall under material wishes?
Where do I sign?
Have a nice day, all single parents of the world and suburbs!

No. Material things are just objects that will never make you happy. Why would I choose to be unhappy for the rest of my life just to have a few material goods??

No, objects don't really matter in the end. But I would sell my soul to find the key to curing cancer or Lou Gerhig's disease.

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "

Nope, material possessions mean nothing next to an eternity with God. Would you? I hope not.

Why would you sell the one thing that can guarantee you eternal life for a quick fix?
