What kind of experience do medical doctors need with computers?

no special training required. many aspects of medicine are computerized now, but most docs can learn as they go. you don't need any special training beforehand.

there's on old doc in my department who still types like a "pecking chicken" with both index fingers... kinda funny to watch, but he gets the job done!

Well they need to be able to operate a computer now days. The increase in electronic medical records is vastly spreading. Radiology is digital, cardiology (EKG's) are digital, lab results and dictations are digital. Just like any field, computers are becoming more integrated with medicine. I've even seen some physician offices (private practice) who bring mobile laptops into patient rooms. They order prescriptions on the computer (and then print at the pharmacy), update history and exam notes all from the laptop.

Basic knowledge on computer usage: internet use, Microsoft Words and Powerpoint knowledge are the most basic requirements. Some establishment uses computerized Doctor/Nurse Ordering System Interface which won't be difficult to learn as long as a doctor has a basic computer knowledge.
