yes most liquor stores have the small little bottles that you can test out. i would figure out what you want to try and buy the ingredients based on that, sometimes it could be cheaper to buy mickeys if you are trying to try a lot of drinks that call for the same thing. my suggestion is to make a list of all the drinks you want to make with rum, vodka etc. if you are thinking of making shooters then you can get a bunch of the small little airplane bottles to play with til you find out what you like. i hope this helps.

Most major liquor stores will sell thos very small bottles that you get on airplanes. They are ussualy very cheap-- like a 2$ or so.
Go to liquor wearhouse and see what they got.

Larger liquor stores sell many types of alcohol in small bottles - 6 oz. or so. You won't be able to find every kind, but you should be able to get the basics - vodka, gin, tequila, rum, whiskey, and even Kahlua and Bailey's.
