Cold drinks are not that harmful, except for the fact that you may catch a cold if you consume too much at the wrong time. I'm not against cold water at all. It is aereated drinks that are the real criminals.

An experiment was conducted. Teeth were dropped in a bottle full of Pepsi and Coke. Both teeth completely dissolved in 2 - 3 days! These aereated drinks rot away the bones and the enamel of the teeth. Consuming these once in 6 months or a year is fine, but frequent consumption can be quite harmful.

Also, these drinks contain Carbon-di-oxide (CO2) which is what makes them 'fizzy'.

Cold aereated drinks are extremely injurious to health, even if manufactured by reputable companies.

Now, here's a scary thought. The roadside vendors or local tea shops ask you to return bottles after use. Why do you think they do that? It is because they refill those bottles with coloured water, which looks exactly like the drink your favourite company manufactures. Who knows what that water is made of, or where it is taken from? Who knows how safe the colouring is? A whole host of diseases can be waiting to jump on you. The same can be said of sherbets.

I'm sure you know of the incident where the discovered the dead body of a lizard in a coke bottle, well hidden due to the colour of the drink.

Counter - measures:
Stop consuming these from roadside vendors or local tea shops just because you get them cheaper there than in restaurants. Go for trustworthy drinks, bought from a trustworthy shop/mall/restaurant. These too, you must not consume frequently.

If you don't want to spend at all, and you're thirsty away from home, take a bottle of water, boiled and cooled at home, with you whenever you go out. You quench your thirst for free, and stay safe.

Depends on the type of drinks and the results that you desire.

It will cool you down in hot weather.

On the other hand hot or warm drinks in cold weather will help you get warm in a hurry.

Hot or warm drinks are recommended if you have humanoids.

To wash out a kidney infection you need to drink lots of cold fresh water.

A gallon of cold water per day is the rule to maintain good health.

They hydrate you.
They don't burn your tongue.

The sugar, alcohol, salt, caffeine and other ingredients in some cold drinks affect some people adversely.

A glass of red wine daily is said to be heart-healthy, so although I've never been one to consume much alcohol, I'm trying to start.

(Going to a new doctor, the nurse took my medical history, and she asks if I drink alcohol. I say no, but I'm trying hard to start. She gave me the *oddest* expression until I explained....)

they cool down your body...they take off the internal heat, and that is important...they keep you from fainting / passing out ...and they supply liquid which you need in hot weather, especially ... otherwise, in cool weather, they are not good since you are trying to maintain steady heat
