~ Fix all buildings, streets, canals, etc in the world that are dilapidated and out of code. (this inculde making them CLEAN)
~ give myself a pair of retractable working wings.

I'd have to plan my 24 hours carefully, so this is just the first few things I would do.

I'd release from prison all the people who are only there for drug-related crimes. I would also release anyone anywhere who was inprisoned for anything which would not be a crime under the Constitution of the United States. That is, I would extend the freedom of the press, of religion, of speech -- freedom of thought, when you come right down to it -- of the Bill of Rights to the whole world, at least for the purposes of this amnesty.

I would tell all soldiers in all armies (not just the US) that they are hereby volunteers, and if they would rather just go home, transportation is available.

I would offer any building which has been vacant more than 90 days (in other words, any building not actively wanted by the marketplace) as a homeless cooperative, a squatters' refuge. The owner would then have to give such a cooperative first pick on renting it, or 90 days notice if he wants to rent or sell it to a commercial venture.

I would file millions of public-interest lawsuits against polluters, including supermarkets that use plastic bags without having a recycling station for their return, those that buy new materials for manufacturing products when appropriate recycled materials are available, and other secondary, less obvious forms of pollution.

In general, I think 24 hours might be enough to demonstrate the validity of programs to recycle, reuse, restore and renovate, rather than be forevermore using up valuable resources and creating wastes we don't know how to dispose of properly.

And if the effect of the power remains, then perhaps putting up a lot of announcements of things that would take longer to implement would also work. So, for example, I could announce contests for creative use of recycled materials, even though the contestants would need a great deal more time to prepare their submissions. Or designate a regularly scheduled swap meet and flea market to let old things find a home other than the land fill.
