They were defending themselves.

Look, there are a lot of anti-Semites in America. I read the Nazi hatred and see their ignorance on YA every day.

The truth is Israel has been attacked over and over and over for years from inside Lebanon. The kidnapping of the soldiers was just the last straw.

If you want my opinion, Israel has been extremely patient. Some people just hate jews so much it wouldn't matter what Isreal did. They could have flown over Lebanon and sprinkled rose petals and people would claim they were trying to kill the Lebanese with pollen.

Well if an unchecked terrorist group crosses the border into your country, kidnaps your soldiers and launches daily missile attacks on your nation then you have a pretty good reason to blow some of their stuff up.

There was MUCH more. The Hamas were bombing civilian targets in Israel not to mention they crossed into Israel territory to capture those soldiers. When you violate a country's border, most countries view that as an act of war.

Well, Hezbollah was heavily embedded in Lebanon and they want to destroy Israel. I wish other countries cared as much about their soldiers as Israel does.

Hezbollah was firing artilerry shells into Israel for months, from Lebanon. Israel got sick of it, and the soldeirs were the final straw.

I also think the few dozen rockets that Hezbollah fired into Israel played a part.

You seem to forget the daily bombardment with rockets.
If someone grabbed your sister would you try to get her back, unharmed or would you just ignore it?

Hezbollah, an organisation the Lebanese government has no control over - hence terrorist and not Lebanese army (in much the same way the Irish had no control over the IRA - didn't see any British invasions of Ireland though did you?) attacked Israel - so Israel puts the Lebanese government at fault and decides to destroy their country - making it less likely the Lebanese government will be able to control Hezbollah, therefore making more attacks at a later date more likely, therefore justifying Israel's stance as a victim.

It's pretty similar to America and Sadam Hussein - Sadam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, or with Islamic terrorism, so America invades Iraq.
