The Pharisees may have been the "bad guys" of Christinaity, but they were the teachers and leaders of the Jews.
Back in Roman times, the Jews were divided into many warring factions. The two main groups were the radical Sadducees (roughly equivalent to Reform Judaism) and the traditional Pharisees (equivalent to Orthodox Judaism). Over time, the Sadducees assimilated and disappeared, while the Pharisees became mainsteam.

The pharisees were the majority and orthodox Jews of their day. they were the ones that us jews, today, study and try hard to emulate. They were never the 'bad guys", they were just painted that way by the New Testament since the Jews, led by the Pharisees rejected Jesus as nothing more than a false messiah who had nothing new to teach.
The mishnah (oral law) quotes the rabbis from the time of the second temple extensively, specifically the Schools of Hillel and Shammai- who were thew two leading rabbis from about 20 years before Jesus was born until around 10CE.

Although God is the only true judge, IMO the pharisees today are prevalent. They are not exclusive to any specific denomination and are found in most every church. They are the ones who behave as the pharisees did in days of old. They espouse virtues and "law" that they themselves do not follow. They judge and promote dissemination of the "body" of the church by holding others to higher standards than they themselves ascribe to.

Some jews were pharisees. Others were Saducees or Essenes.
The Pharisees were actually the mainstream, liberal jews at the time of Roman occupation. They were the only jewish sect to survive today.
If you are looking for an analogy today, within your favorite religion, pick the mainstream, liberal current.

I know of MANY people in religion who are classified as 'pharisees'. Many churches I've been in have had pastors that preach one thing, and yet live the opposite. It's pretty sad to see this happen.

There are no phrisees today, and pharisees were never "bad guys"; they were simply a school of thought within Judaism more than 2,000 years ago.

the pharisees of today are those who think that following rules of men is the way to be a Christian.... and not living as Christ would live
Those who think you can 'do this or that' and that makes you a Christian... rather than the total surrender to Christ and BEING Him to others
Those that think a religious title (denomination or position) makes them righteous or 'right with God'.... and don't read the Word to find GOD'S direction for their lives
Those that think actions according to doctrine is what 'gets them to heaven' rather than faith alone

Only God really knows, but as a Jesus lover of 56 years, I am sad to say it is a lot of the pastors and leaders of the Christian churches who have let power go to their heads, but God is the final judge and they will have their judgement day at the pearly gates, we might have to wave goodbye to a lot of them as they head south. To mislead an entire flock with lies, well, that is a sure ticket to hell.

They are wearing white robes but inside are dead mens' bones. These are merely hirelings or employees not for the sake of THE LORD GOD but for the sake of money. Additionally, that the true shepherd of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST wear white robes but inside is THE HOLY SPIRIT and they are the ones who give up their lives for the sake of the sheep as THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is THE GOOD SHEPHERD. But the hirelings run away when the wolf comes and alowed the sheep to be eaten and be scattered.
