I think you're scared because you don't understand what makes a plane fly. Many people are afraid of what they don't understand.

The wing of a plane has one purpose in life - to deflect air downward. As air flows over the wing and is deflected downward there is an equal and opposite force (lift) pushing up on the wing. When enough air is deflected down to equal the weight of the plane the plane is capable of flight. If you're ever worried about the "magic" keeping the plane up in the air just think of how the wing is deflecting the air downward to keep the plane aloft.

At least now you know what causes an airplane to stay in the air. It's not magic. It's the laws of physics.

Go to Youtube.com and search for "ThomsonFly 757 bird strike & flames captured on video" (I tried to put the link in this post but it didn't work). It shows a Boeing 757 that sucked a bird into the engine right at takeoff (the worst possible time) and lost the engine. Notice how the airplane continued to fly straight and climb on only one engine and note the calm manner in which the pilots communicated with the tower. No panic at all. This just shows that things can go wrong at the worst possible time and the safety of the airplane was never in doubt.

No worries in fact a little while ago I was terrified of takeoff but I loved it at the same time and once we were cruising no problem ad landing the same well as for the weight of the plane as you may notice when a small plane takes off it requires less runway to get the adequate lift to support the weight of the aircraft in the air planes such as the 777 747 a380 require more runway the more runway the more speed the plane picks up to take off once the plane get enough speed it get enough lift so as a result the planes nose will rise the wings will flex up and up you go there are no worries to flying and put it this way if the aircraft was unsafe why would the pilots fly it and why would the flight attendants fly on it every flight the plane goes on its very well inspected by the pilots and as the plane taxis its also tested to make sure everything is functioning perfectly.

Enjoy the flight

No, there's nothing really to help you get over it, you just have to convince yourself it'll be fine.. and you will be. I personally find it a rush, it's good fun as long as you dont have to travel more then a few hours. Here's something that might help: Air travel is the SAFEST way to travel. That's a fact. Less people die from air travel then any other mode of transport. Have a great flight!

If your fear is to the point of being a phobia, you may be able to discuss it with your doctor or a psychiatrist and get some treatment. There are therapies and sometimes even medications that can help you learn to cope with your fear. It is ok to be afraid! But it is understandable that you might be embarrassed to show it as much as you do. Talk it over with your doctor and see what they advise. Good luck!
