Because a lot of the time, the truth is more difficult to deal with.

I agree with birdsfly. It is the nature of many that don't know Jesus. They may claim to be truthful, but lie to self by claiming that they have no need for God. It can also a problem with many Christians in a moment of temptation.
I 've known people that lie when the truth would have been easier because the habit is hard to break.

People lie for two reasons:
1) They think it's easier than telling the truth.
2) They think they can get away with it.
I hate liars.

I think some people panic and tell lies thinking its the easier way to deal with things... The problem is the lies come back and they they have to tell more lies to deal with the new mess they are in.. Then they complain about how difficult their lives are, when its all the lies that help complicate it... It might seem more difficult telling the truth, but the truth will set you free.....

when a person is in the flesh rather than with God it is nature to lie,one lie begats another only to cover the first telling the truth the first time assures that you wont have to cover the first one when you are with God you dont want to lie

Because the language of the USA is lies, lies, lies lies. Let's use Bill Clinton as our famous leader. Talk about lies "I did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office" well, yes, I suppose oral sex isn't considered sex, but I know a lot of guys who might disagree !! .... Dear Abby, My husband is a liar & a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning & when I confront him he denies it. What's worse, everyone knows that he cheats on me & it is humiliating. The only time I lie is when a friend asks me if something makes her look fat....if she looks as if she has gained weight,....etc. I cannot bring myself to say, "Yes."

because the truth sometimes hurt. telling the truth sometimes can damage your future, your relationships and people can stop trusting you.
