you don't need to list him until he has an actual drivers license, unless you're in a state w/ graduated permit where he has a permit # that will become his actual license number. i dont know what everyone else here is talking about. he is automatically covered on your policy while learning to drive w/ a permit.

once he is licensed, your rates will def. go up. here's an option though -- make him pay the difference when u add him if he wants to drive so bad. that's what my parents made me do.

Yes, you need to list him as soon as he has his permit. Some companies will not raise your rates until he actually has his license, but yes, it will eventually go up a substantial amount. As to whether your company will raise the rates now or later, only your agent can tell you that, ask when you call to add your son. If you live in a state with the graduated license program, make sure you and he know and understand what he can and can not do regarding his use of the car.

Yes add him to your policy. Yes Your rates will quadruple. Not until he turns 25 or maried will he get reduced rates. Permit or not the car is at risk of inexperenced driver wreck. Tie his grades to licence most the time grades suffer. No one else but you in the car first 6 months. No friends at night after that for a year. Both od you should thake "THE DRIVERS EDGE" accident avoidance drivers course.

I agree with Shelcom. You must add him to your policy, and yes it will raise your rates because his gender/age/experience is the highest risk group.
