Most of you seem to agree that prayer doesn't heal.

Sometimes I think that people that are ill will say this, and in turn just you saying
"YES" you will, makes them feel better..
but I do believe very much in prayer...
and I couldn't tell you just how many times
I have seen this happen when alot of people pray for someone...it is truly a miracle that happens all the time.

The last scientific study seemed to indicate prayer had no effect on recovery. A previous one, many years back, seemed to indicate there could be a significant impact.
From even the bible's point of view, healing was a rare occurrence. Although Jesus healed at will, and told others they could do this as well, through faith, aside from Jesus and his immediate followers, few reported dramatic results.
There might be an explanation. Samuel was called a man of God, and it is said that "God did not let his words fall to the ground."
Perhaps the problem with getting prayers answered is the quality of life of the person praying.
This wouldn't violate natural laws. Athletes can do what the untrained cannot. Physicists can solve mathematical problems that baffle most. Perhaps Healers have to be in a certain state of mind or body to tap into spiritual healing.

It is Biblical. The Bible says if we are ill then we should call upon the elders of the church and have our heads anointed and then prayed for, and if those who are praying for us believe and are truly Godly people, and more importantly if we believe our prayers are answered. God will not withold the cure if we don't do this. Take the women with the issue of blood for example. She believed that all she had to do was touch the garment of Christ and she would be healed, no prayers no laying on of hands not even being touched by Christ. If we believe that we can say I can be healed by Christ just by having a true encounter with Him then by our faith we will be healed.

No, it isn't that. It's just that people who are sick want to have to have some comfort in their affliction and it feels good to know that other people are interceding with God for you in prayer. Also people may think that their sickness has to do with some sin on their part and God is chastising them or they look at passages like these and feel that it might be helpful for other people to pray along with them for recovery.
Matthew 18:18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."
James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

I've prayed many times for a persons recovery forgetting that it simply might not be God's will for that person to be healed here on this earth. We should pray for that person's strength and faith to overcome knowing that we serve a God who can heal, if He chooses.

There have been some large studies on this. Prayer is totally ineffective: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/31/health/31pray.html?ex=1301461200&en=4acf338be4900000&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

I agree with the first poster....
Prayer is necessary.......and God DOES hear us.
Even though He is in control and knows the outcome already, we are still commanded to pray.
It's a priviledge.
