Hi,

I weigh 57kg, I'm 18 years old, and I'm about 5'11'. My problem is that I have very skinny arms, normal torso, and...embarrasing as it is to say...quite a bit of flab on my butt and on the underside of my thighs and shins.

I've been exercising quite strenuously for the past four days, and I think i've become a bit obsessive...

I started out doing 30 minutes of interval running and walking on the treadmill (5 minutes of walking, then 5 minutes running etc) each day, and yesterday I hit a personal record of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Also, I started with some leg excersies and weight lifting once a day, this has gone up to three times a day.

Now my muscles are aching all over. My diet is also messed up, I find myself worrying and feeling guilty after every meal and feel the need to 'compensate' for it by doing extra exercise, even though I'm eating very healthily.

Can some knowledgable people help me?

There is no way you can lift 3 times a day if you are working hard. Do it like this. 3 days exercise, 1 day rest, then 3 days again,1 day rest for the rest of your life. Work out twice a day, 20 minutes cardio+30 minutes of intensive weight training once in the morning or afternoon, then again at night. This 2 smaller workout a day will keep your metabolism moving quikly. You need to build muscle mass, so you have to isolate your workout to one particular muscle group. One day it should be all chest, next day arms and legs, next day shoulders and back. rest then do that over again, if your body does not recover then more rest and eat a lot of good foods. Your body is sore because you are beginnign and you are not conditioned so you have a lactic acid buldup in your muscles, it will go away but will always come back if you ever stop training for a while again. Lift heavy wieghts and intensity is the most important thing. The more weight resistence the more calories burned, the more muscle you build the more calories your body will be ble to consume without you gaining weight. No carbs late at night, no wasted calories like sodas and chips. thats doing right but it is hard.

The fact that your muscles' aching is already a sign to tell you that they're protesting - hey, enough exercise, we cant' take it anymore!

Check here: http://www.perfect-body-toning.com/symptoms-of-too-much-exercise.html for any other symptoms that you may have, to know whether you're over-exercsing.

As a matter of fact, you automatically know when it's too much..........

Weight lifting should only be done once a day, 3-4 times per week, for 10-15 mins per session.

Cut your interval training on treadmill down to 60 mins per session, 3-4 times per week.

Don't have to feel guilty about the food and want to compensate for it by doing extra exercise, as long as you're eating healthily. This isn't a cliche; this is fact you must know and practise.

Food isn't your enemy; food is your friend. Just eat the right and healthy food, you'll be fine.

Do not exercise too much to reduce fat anywhere.
just controlled your diet , do not eat too oily, fatty and sweets.
eat everything but in a proportion. and if you have to exercise daily with other works also, exercise as much as u can bear. too much exercise can't give the results because u can't continue it for long. Exercise 5 or 6 days a week. Have a guidance from a couch, for which exercise is suitable to you.

if you feel too skinny, start eating lots of food containing protein and fat. You also need to reduce your exercise level.

It is too much when you feel it is too much. Cut down on the exercise.
