I'm wondering where it talks about the creation of angels in the bible...maybe it's in another scriptural text? Maybe the Torah?(sp? sorry)

The scriptures that contain encounters are quite interesting for sure, but I'm wondering where the whole story came from?

I am aware that angels are messengers and the Almighty Creator has given us the power to call on them for protection. (That would be a handy verse to know exactly too) I think angels are fascinating to humans because they can fly independantly. I don't think they look anything like a human though. We were created in God's image, I have no idea what angels look like, but I'm guessing they are at least 12-15 feet tall. Ever notice how they have to tell each human "Fear not...." and "Do not bow down to worship me" I have surmised that their presence alone is pretty intimidating.

The creation of the angels is only alluded to in the Torah, not stated directly. In the Midrash Rabbah on Bereishis (this is a compilation of aggadic stories that help to explain the text- some are purely informative, and sometimes parable type tales, and others are legalistic), when explaining the creation it states that the angels were only created on the third day (or fifth day- their is a disagreement between the Rabbis whether the angels are associated with fire or water- if fire, then the third day, if water then the fifth day) so people would not say that they helped with creation.

Angels are described in Yechezkel's (vision of the Merkavah (Divine Chariot)- Chapter 1 " 5. And from its midst was the likeness of four living beings, and this is their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
6. And [each] one had four faces, and [each] one had four wings.
7. And their legs were straight legs, and the soles of their feet were like a round foot, and they sparkled like the color of burnished copper.
8. And human hands were beneath their wings on their four sides, and their faces and their wings were [the same] to all four of them.
9. Their wings joined one to the other; they did not turn when they walked; each one would go toward the direction of his face.
10. And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man, and the face of a lion was on their right, to the four of them, and the face of an ox to their left, to the four of them, and the face of an eagle [was] to the four of them.
11. And so were their faces. And their wings were extended upward; each one had two wings joined to each other, and two covering their bodies."

The Zohar and Sefer Yetzira (the main books of the Kaballah) go into detials on the heavenly hosts, but these are not readily available nor are they on the internet. Reading them is also a problem as they are in hebrew and aramaic.

okay after doing research ( I will make it short ) in Genesis 2:1 it says

"1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them."

(host of the heavens would more than likely refer to angels)

and in Luke 2:13 you will see when referring to host he is referring to angels that he sent:

"13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,"

So therefore, the angels where probably created during the creation period when he first created the heavens and earth but as for exactly which day is not sure.

There's no specific mention of the beginning of angels in Scripture but.....

Scripture as a whole lets us know that they are servants of God.....who also protect the saints (believers) (Hebrews 1:13)

I just can't wait to see what one actually looks like when I get there (heaven)

"Sons of God" is a title for Angels in the OT.

Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, 7 when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

whereever it is written "Now Lord spoke to Samuel etc..... " means angel of speaking the message which God has sent to them. Holy spirit descended on John and other prophet and at Jesus is angel Gabriel called Rooh ul Amin in Arabic having same meaning of Holy Spirit.

It is clear that Satan was created by God and if he was so were other angels.

It will bless you. Angels are a very tricky subject because "the world" has made them trinkers to collect, but did you know humans are higher than angels because we have free choice ?
