We have temps coming through our area all the time. When I first meet one that I'm keen on, even if its just as a potential friend, what's the best way to go from a workmate to having lunch during the week?
I usually chat to them for a couple of days then if things go well, suggest lunch but I'm not having too much luck. Not sure if my timing is just bad. For example, one said maybe she had a lot of work to do. One was busy. If the person doesn't offer an alternative time or date, is that any indication of whether they're interested?
Just a bit confused as to whether a girl doesn't provide an alternative date, should I just give up?

The reason I'm confused is because they are usually really friendly when chatting in the office. Even after I've asked about lunch. If they weren't interested at all, wouldn't their attitude towards me in the office change. I would think they would be less friendly and more professional. Thoughts?
