I'd say no you don't have to tell them you are getting married but once you too are married, yes. The one exception might be if you two work together in the same battalion, there are rules about involvement within the battalion and within ranks. Other than that you will take in the marriage certificate and such to DEERS and get your information updated, even if you are both military the paperwork needs to be updated.

You do need to inform your command simply because you will want time off for your wedding and to get your new spouse signed into the various databases she will need to e in for things like a military ID, health care and the like. If you are planning a military career, you need to get used to the idea that your command will need to know a lot of things about your life outside of work...and that your life outside of work can directly affect your military career. For a military marriage to be successful, you need to understand that immediately and be sure your wife to be understands this as well. By marrying you, she is marrying into the military and that is not something all people do well with.

You dont have to get permission in the Marines. Who told you that? I mean your unit would like to know, because you are gonna have to go and take care of alot of stuff with DEERS but I never let anybody know and nor did my husband.

You dont have to tell them (ie get permission), UNLESS it is a foreigner. You do have to inform your administrative chain of command in order to get BAH with dependence and if you want to move out of the barracks after you get married.

You don't have to get permission to get married in any branch of the military.
40 years ago you did, but not anymore.

it's a good idea to. they cannot forbid it, but there are other considerations: coordinating Leave, if you are both in the same work center, one of you will have to be transferred out, that sort of thing,
