Not all Americans eat "so much" unhealthy food, and we're not the only nation that eats unhealthy food. I believe the reason some people eat so much unhealthy food is convenience. After working a long day, it's easier to go to a fast food drive-thru and get something for supper than to come home and cook a meal, if you haven't planned ahead.
It's cheaper to cook healthy food at home, though. And, it can be almost as convenient, if you prepare ahead. I always prep my produce when I get home from the grocery store. I wash it, store it in zip bags with a paper towel in the fridge, and have it all ready to use. When I brown ground beef, I brown extra and freeze it. When I boil potatoes for mashing, I boil extra for potato salad the next day. Doing things like that is the key to being able to cook healthy meals easily.
I can put together a meal for my family of some sort of pasta dish and a fresh salad in less time and for less than half the cost than it takes to get a meal at a fast food place.

Don't group only Americans in that category. Each country has their own versions of unhealthy food and fast food. I think some Americans choose to eat fast food and unhealthy food but not all Americans do. You can't generalize and say all Americans do because we all don't. I do not eat fast food and prefer to cook at home. The only reason it's popular here is because we are a fast paced, capitalist society and people are constantly on the go and working so it's easier to eat out than to cook at home for some people. I saw plenty of British people eating crap food on 'The F Word' so don't think it's only in America.

Americans are great experimenters and would often cross safety lines to indulge in their 'Whole Hog' attitude towards things which catches their fancy.A country founded by adventurers, has a limit less appetite and stamina to take on the unknowns,be it a food,a game ,a sport ,a hobby or any such thing unlike Europeans were conservative and still remain so to a great extent. If we go with the same reasoning, the days are not far off, when Americans would be the initiators of healthy food and become not only pioneers but again a Whole Hog' followers of it.What has happened to the habit of smoking in America, from Marlbro....macho man to 'No smoking zones' all over the country.[Note:-I am not an American but an admirer of that country and it's people]

I don't believe its, the culture, but more the lifestyle, social choices, I live in America and have a busy lifestyle so, hitting a McDonald's on my way to training, meeting etc, for a cheeseburger its not the healthiest, we choose the fastest way to eat, not thinking about all those calories, and carb's that we are putting into our bodies, sure we could get a salad, at McDonald's but can we eat it while driving ? it takes longer to eat. American's live in a fast paced lifestyle. Time to relax and take care of ourselves is one of the things we as Americans tend not to do. It's much easier to get into a car and drive around the corner to the store to get a loaf of bread than walking. Times are changing however, American schools are seeing the effect on the food they eat, and are making changes, so aren't fast food and most restaurants.

Most of it is cheaper than good healthy food here. Not sure why. Plus, junk food is everywhere here, it's easier to get.
This is why we have so many fat asses here also! Just take a walk through a gas station anywhere in America.......all the candy and unhealthy food anyone could ever want!
It's nice, but also our curse.

You , know it's not just us "Americans" who eat a lot of unhealthy food. Everyone does. It's much cheaper especially since things have gone "organic".

Its been shown...human beings are the fattest human beings of the different united states of america. There are way too many quickly nutrition eating places. human beings think of its rapid, much less high priced and person-friendly just to purchase take out or bypass consume out. I believe you, eating wholesome is extra low value. i'm able to feed a relatives of four for $10....what could that purchase you at McDonalds? Its extra convenient to stand on one area of a quickly nutrition counter and order off a menu, than it is to open a prepare dinner e book, write down the components, bypass to the food market, purchase the nutrition and take it abode to prepare dinner it. yet in the long-term, the abode cooked nutrition is extra suitable for you, much less sodium, much less fat & no preservatives
