I buy all-natural sugar free fruit preserves. It's just fruit and pectin. And it's organic. I buy it at Trader Joe's for $3 for 18 ounces. (Trader Joe's is a chain of cheap in price, high quality health food stores in the US). Recently, when my husband I were grocery shopping, we made the mistake of buying crunchy peanut butter. We like it, but prefer smooth because it spreads better and we use less. Well, I also will take little nibbles from the preserve jar while my whole wheat bread (also devoid of anything artificical) is toasting.
Anyway, just go for the all natual stuff. I can't guarantee you'll eat less, but you won't be consuming anything yucky.
PS: I tried the sugar free Smucker's at Bob Evans recently. It reminded me of a poorly sweetened/flavoered piece of grape candy. I spat it into my napkin. I had always been leary of it with all of the chemical-looking ingredients in the ingredients list on the jar. I'll stick with my Trader Joe's preserves.

I wouldn't eat too much of the sugar-free variety if it is sweetened with Aspartane (developed as an ant-killer) and suspicions about its possible link with some cancers.
Sugar isn't particularly that fattening in moderation when compared with fats, so if it's a choice of jelly or crisps, go for the jelly every time.

Go bland. Plain, uncomplicated, unseasoned food such as smoked chicken, plain rice and a nude baked potato are nutritious however your palette will tire of these quickly, unlike salty moreish refined food, which keeps you snacking and piling within the pounds.

jelly is fat - gelatine comes from boiling up the carcasses of animals and letting it cool down - the fat floats on the top of the stock. It is then scraped off and cleaned up a bit... Sugar free jelly is not as bad for your teeth or for diabetics ... but jelly is pure fat!!!!!!
