Unfortunately, ALL insurers will consider you high risk and will charge you a hell of a lot more.
Theres no way around it I'm afraid, just hunt around for the cheapest. Its possible you could pay monthly.
I would recomend you phone up companies rather then searching the net because they can tailor the insurance to you better.
Basically, you have to prove over a period of time that you are now a trustworthy driver, just like new drivers have to. It takes time but the prices will come down.

Don't start on the slippery slope trying to hide yourself behind another. You are regarded as a poor risk due to your actions and as such will have to pay a higher premium. In theory you and your friend have committed the offence of conspiracy to defraud and also, if your friend went ahead they would be guilty of making a false statement for securing a certificate of motor insurance. If this disappoints you then remember - it is as a result of your own actions. For an accurate quote you should call into a local insurance broker to get advice.

Sorry, but you're high risk for the next 5 years. It will take you 5 years of proving yourself to get those rates down.

Drink drivers get no sympathy here. I used to drive an ambulance and have had to clean up their messes too many times. It's usually the poor sot driving sober that gets the short end of it from the drunkard. You've earned it, so live with it.

Have you contacted an insurance broker? They specialise in providing insurance that meets your needs.

Off-hand I can think of several Broker orientated insurance companies that will quote for someone with a DR10.

Been done for it twice mate and they all like to kick your butt for about 5 years. I got my dad to insure my car with 'any driver' for a while, then found the small independent companies were the cheapest. Keep trying mate.

Too bad. You did a stupid, irresponsible, dangerous thing. Actions have consequences-if it was up to me you wouldn't drive for 5 years. You had the money to buy the flat...you could've bought insurance.

Unfortunately, no you should look on Confused.com for the cheapest deal but most of them are going to charge a high premium. You may say you've changed but they will probably want to see proof in the shape of a clean licence for several years.

'dont do the crime if you cant do the time' comes to mind....
but guess its like the others above say, keep looking, there will be a solution out there
perhaps have it insured on your partners name and have you included as second driver? thats how i had it set up with my (now ex-) girlfriend....

Circumstances have changed - doesn't matter#

You choose to be a drink driver so you have to live with the outcome.
